Persimmon Pudding at the Mitchell Persimmon Festival in Indiana with Eliza Greenman

Persimmons thrive in southern Indiana where the Mitchell Persimmon Festival has been held each year since the 1940s in celebration of the native fruit tree.
“A lot of the old persimmon cultivars grown in the United States were selections from the Mitchell Persimmon Festival. Persimmons are very much part of the local culture here in southern Indiana - it might be the best place to grow persimmons in the United States,” said Savanna Institute's Eliza Greenman.
