  • Is this the hardest place to back a truck up to in the USA? This is the truck dock known as "Railside". This factory has lots of hard truck doors. This video shows the most difficult one of them all!

I respect your experience,. I’ve been driving for 5 years, I’ve seen some tough docks. Personally, I would refuse to deliver. If there’s crap in the way or if I feel the situation is unsafe, I’ll refuse . I don’t care, my CDL is important, just my opinion.

This dock will never be done by a Sleeper. The contract has changed hands and I am still employed by the new company. We are now using tandem axle Volvo day cabs with 5th wheel lift kits. There are only 4 trailers which are used at this dock. The Glatfelter company has a 40 ft Flatbed trailer for moving machinery. The others are three 40 foot Vans that are owned by First Capital Freight of York, Pennsylvania. Any thing longer would be a impossibility. A 53 foot trailer would hit walls in front and in back. This place is very much one of a kind. I just did this dock today for the 49th time. Yes I have counted every single time.

I had many worse docks that you had to jack knife blind sided into the whole way through. 34 years driving for Pesi San Diego. Glad I made it out alive.

The underground dock in Independence MO is the worst I've seen. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about.

Not saying it wouldn't be "difficult", but going S-L-O-W-L-Y is the key, *BUT* you've got a *SWITCHER* truck which is obviously nowhere near as difficult as a cab/sleeper.

They should put back the rails and add a carrier for a trailer that's easy to load and unload with a truck. A pulley system can move it while on the rails. Then any semi can be used. They might even be able to use longer trailers, unless 40's already reach the legal weight limit.

That is a good idea! Update! The Glatfelter Company has sold this facility. Even with the original P.H. Glatfelter's home at the premise. It is now called Pixelle Specialty Solutions. What a name!

This is what used to be called the Glatfelter Paper company in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. It is now owned by Pixelle Specialty Solutions. It is still doing its paper making thing like it always has since 1864.
