This is such a clever technique, so glad I watched it. Even though I'm quite an experienced sewer, I would never have thought to overlap the edges to make a washable pillow case! You're brilliant!
Thank you for the video. Your directions are clear and easy to follow. I love that you showed how to create the "sham" opening in the back. I tried your method and it was a success!!
Thank you for this tutorial. A friend asked me to make 12 tee shirt memorial 18 inch pillows for her children who recently lost their dad. Following your instructions, they went together so smoothly. I had them finished in a couple of days, well in time for Christmas. Two of the shirts had collars, so that presented a different challenge, but I mastered the task. Your idea to round the corners worked so well. Thank you. Excellent tutorial!
This is awesome. My sweet husband passed away 2 years ago, u just gave me a great idea 2 use his shirts as Christmas gifts 4 our children & grand - children. thank u.
Hi there, I've watched many throw pillow videos from a t-shirt on youtube, and yours definitely was the easiest one to follow and make, and it comes out looking just the same as the other t-shirt pillows. Thanks a lot for this video.
I've watched your video a fews times just to make sure I didn't forget a step as I was working... But honestly it was so simple and clean-cut that I didn't even need to do that. So, thanks for putting this video out there for us sewing-challenged. It gave me the confidence to finally start making t-shirt pillows from my late Grammy's shirts.
Donut glaze? Haha, girl I am with you on that one! Lol😎 Anyway, awesome work! You are indeed magical! I cannot wait to do this! Thank you for the awesome 'to the point' video!
This is the best video I've seen for this project, and the easiest. After watching, I've made pillows out of my father's tee shirts for my family, and they came out great. Thank you so much!
Amazing video and such easy instructions!!! I made a pillow last night using 2 different t shirts, so there is a print on each side. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you very much for your clear instructions. I made my first cushion cover out of an old but cherished t-shirt. So satisfying for an intermediate beginner! 😊
Your video was super helpful! I just made a pillow using your tips - my first with my new serger - and it came out great! Only thing I did differently was to use fusible interfacing on the front.
The Heat in Omaha kept me indoors; 95* since 3:00. My brother threw away a t-shirt to me he knew he would never wear. Today I made that t shirt into a pillow using your help. I used shoelaces and accent material to add trim to the outer edge, He will not believe its the T-Shirt he wanted to get rid of...Thanks so much!!!
I am so thankful I found your video! I have watched so many videos to find a pillowcase that wouldn't be permanent, like the no sew knotted ones everywhere, because I have dogs and a grandbaby and I definitely need to be able to wash it, lol. Technically I have a pillow and I'm trying to cover it with an old T-shirt but anyway I found your video and I would've never thought about that back the way you made it, like bought cases and shams, so it can be removed and washed. anyway, I'm rambling, just thanks so much and I can't wait to visit your page and watch your other videos. I can see now I'ma need a ChopShopBitch folder/playlist😁
Thank you so much for making this video! I should have come to youtube right away instead of pinterest. This is exactly what I was looking for. Easy for a semi new sewer and with the perfect amount of sass!
Thank you for making this so easy. I thought it would be much more complicated. I loved the idea of using the bottom of the t shirt as the finished edge of the flap.
This is very interesting. I’ll be making many tee shirt pillows, with sewing machine. Your techniques are very helpful. I was interested to note you cut shirts the same size as the pillow form.
Thanks! I have two Clemson T-shirts a friend gave me, this was exactly I’m looking for to give them back as pillows for college football season - finished beck edges 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I found your video at the perfect time! Going to be making memory pillows for my family. Just got the shirts delivered today! Than you for the tutorial!
I've got to say the video showed me that making a pillos can be super cool and way easier then I would have ever imagined it. And I have a pillow here that I may just do that with.
I was searching for a video like this to make a pillow. This is my first video of yours that I have watched. And yes you are magical to think of a storage until for a sewing room. 🤗Looks functional. I don’t know if you respond to questions so here goes. My neighbor brought me her brother’s shirt (he passed last year) and a rectangle pillow. I would like to have the flap on the bottom like you have done. Will it work for a long pillow? Will it be difficult to put the pillow case on and take off? Great video! Thank you!🙌🤗💗
I love this way to doing the casing. Its perfect. Do you think its a good idea to put stabilizer on the back of the front to keep it sturdy or just leave it? Thank you for sharing.
This project would be a great first straight stitch project- - instead of making curved edges just sew off each edge then come down the next seam going off the next edge. Enjoy! We learn from our mistakes- remember to use ball point needle for knits
@@chopshopstitch That is interesting... in our community the city put up garages not for storage but to use as a work room. Electrical and all... with a hallway in the middle for a bathroom to share... It's supposed to be for the man who doesn't have a big enough garage. LOL... I can see anyone working in these. Pretty cool idea. But the one that is here you have to buy and is very expensive.
@angela that's sounds amazing! This was good for me at the time but thankfully my kids are all grown now and I've turned one of their rooms into my sewing room :)
You have removed all my angst about making the memory pillows out of my SIL t-shirts. THANK YOU! My artistic talents do not include sewing. However, I'm the crafty person and want to do this.
Thank you so much. Excellent video. One thing: Can you tell me what stitch you used. You gave me a great idea. I have a t shirt from one of the women's conference I went to. Yes, you got it! I am going to make one.
Yes, I made the pillows for the VPs @ my company due to the change in command and they love it!I didn't make the pillow for the conference yet, I was waiting for the kind of stitch you used. lol (just kidding)Thank you again
What is the best stitch for this. I had a lot of issues sewing this. I used a stretch stitch for it looked like a Zig Zag with lines on both sides. It actually broke my machine for a little bit. Once we fixed it I used the zig-zag for the rest of the pillow cover. Anyone, please reply if you have any tips. I have 4 more of these to make and they are awesome looking when they are done.
Hi first time subcriber, I purchase a tee shirt while on vacation and didn't fit the person. I told her I would make a pillow but don't own a sewing machine could I use hot glue?
If your using tshirts I would make the template 16x16. If you're not using stretchy material then I would make the template 17x17 and use 1/4 seam allowance ❤

I would like to make the pillow with a regular sewing machine. How much smaller would you recommend the template and what stitch would you recommend?
I would make the template a quarter of an inch smaller on all sides. And use a medium zig zag stitch :)
