How anyone could lie about losing their parents or grandparents is pathetic, I lost my granny a year ago tomorrow. She passed 10 days before her 97th birthday, I just wish I could've been there that day to see her one last time and tell her how much I love her 💔
I'm so sorry to hear. My Grandma moved to a better house in June, turned 80 in July, and passed August. As much as I wished to tell her I love her one more time, I just look at the happy memories she left behind and I'm thankful for the normal phone call we had nine days before. I hope you and your family are doing ok these days.

Faking a death is NOT something you use as an excuse.
In college, I had to go to my grandma's funeral when she died when I was 19. NEVER would I lie about something like that.

I'm a manager of a grocery store and I had an employee pull the exact same stunt. She said her grandmother who lived in Mississippi (I'm in Texas) passed and she had to go to Mississippi for the funeral. Later that same day another employee ran into her at an arcade

I never understood how people will go so far to lie about a family members death to get out of work. What's done in the dark, will eventually come to light.
Jacob really crossed the line that time he lied to his boss honestly I love jakes boss he is such a great guy does Jacob have any idea how rare a boss like him is when he heard than Jakes grandma passed he let Jacob out of work for the funeral right away he didn’t try to keep Jacob in work he didn’t even give him outside work to do while he was out he didn’t even sound annoyed he was just sad for Jacob and he was perfectly fine with Jacob dating his daughter this shows how much he must have trusted Jacob and what a good parent he must have been at least he is willing to give people chances he didn’t complain about not keeping a professional relationship he was great and Jacob just took all that guys kindness and used it to his advantage Jacob how could u u don’t deserve a boss that good 😢
Also jacobs boss handled the situation very well he doesn’t yell at Jacob or call him ungrateful he just tells his to stay away from his daughter and leaves and he just says your fired nothing more he was probably very sad to learn how his trust was used
I had a boss like Jacobs. Ed Rosenberg. He died in 2018. He had a contract in a warehouse that had a cafe big kitchen nice spot.
I started working with him in August of 2015. I became an assistant manager within months because of my cooking experience and my menus.
My car needed a new alternator, he gave me the money to fix it as a bonus. Than I got an amazing opportunity to work on a small cruise ship in Alaska. It was a seasonal job. He was so excited and happy for me. My last day, he cried and I cried. Everyone thought he was my dad. He gave me a big hug, told me to go see the world! I left in May of 2017. November was when the season was over, and than we did the Colombian river cruise. While I was away he lost the contract. So I didn’t have a job to return too. I would do some side jobs, and whatever he needed.
In January of 2018 I hadn’t heard from him in a while. I got the phone call that he had passed away. I was devastated to say the least.
He was the best boss you could have ever asked for. One in a million.

This story hurt, I just lost my dog because he had to be put down. The part in the beginning where he said "it's just hard because I know I will never hear her call me nano anymore" was so relatable. Jacob is lucky that his grandparents are still alive as I lost all of mine before I even entered middle school 😢 (since my parents had me at age 40, as did their parents). The grandparent I was closest to died when I was in 4th grade and I remember it very well - including the fact that I missed at least 3 days of school because of it.
