I always appreciate when someone has a much more condensed and personal collection because it shows a lot more personality than those who just have everything and don't even have space for all of it to be displayed properly.

That's me. I feel like anymore I don't belong in collector groups because they are all about owning everything and never removing from the shrink-wrap and collecting every variant and when I show my my collection in binders they freak out and send me threats...
I feel like I have to defend the fact that everyone should collect in the way that works for THEM and makes THEM happy. Whether that's reproductions or digital copies or bare carts and discs in a binder or whatever.
There's no need to collect every game ever made to impress people and complete-setters annoy me because they drive up prices even for junk games.

    • @Turo602
      @Turo602 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@darinherrick9224 Exactly. I have over 500 games across multiple consoles and I feel like that's up there for me already and becoming hard to manage in my current space and I constantly trade stuff I don't care for. Yet, I see all these collector's on TH-cam with way more games than me and just tons of filler in their collection. Like, what's the goal eventually? Have as many games as possible? Open up a museum? What's the endgame to having every Switch game?
I only get what I want and if a game is really special to me, then I understand the need to "collect" their many iterations. But when you find yourself buying shovelware and just shelving it to collect dust, how do you not question yourself? Especially when they're taking patreon money and have all that expendable cash to do such things.

@@Turo602 I got around 1000 games across all platforms but I'm always trying to shrink the collection. And I'm trying to try out games at the public library or play ROMs before buying.

I have a collection of hundred Xbox 360 video games. My grandmother would like my video game collection in my game shelf if she was here today but she passed away years ago. She would’ve been proud of me, the man I always am and I will always be a man a good one. I love video games. I never get tired of this stuff and that helps my skills. I have PS2, N64, and Xbox 360. When I saw "Creatures" here for the PS1, I immediately thought it was a port of the all time classic Commodore 64 game of the same name! The "Creatures" game I think about was a fantastic platform game with genius, sick senses of humor and clever puzzles to figure out in certain levels. One of my all time favourite games. It was lauded and lavished with deserved praise at the time- 1990, 91. Alas, this PS1 game you talk of is not an updated version, or anything to do with it! Still, really enjoyed the grand tour of the games, excellently presented!

Thank you so much for making this video and I love the nostalgic NES titles in you collection like Gradius and Felix The Cat.

In other words, it’s not genuine to me, almost fake. Your channel on other hand, every video I’ve seen you do, you seem pretty legitimate and true to yourself In your commentary. I’ve always been that way on my channel (I have matured and changed so much over the 8 years doing TH-cam. BUT I have always been my true self 100 percent of the time, just a lot of changes. Shocked to see the vinyl collection containing multiple game soundtracks. That's really hard core. Also, seeing shelfs with games gives me currently a "run down game shop" vibe. As downloading games took over, especially for PC games, some shops have a dusty corner left over for games in boxes. I guess in a couple of years, when those shelfs are gone, it will be as cult as shelfs with vinyl or graphic novels. Although the game art books and game soundtrack vinyl are definitely cult already. Those vinyl covers and art books are a great format to display what you love about a game.

My physical collection has dwindled to only a handful of consoles, game boxes, and some books. I had to move around a lot when I was younger so I’ve since converted everything to emulators, ROMs, and digital games.
It was fun building the front end UI and organizing all of the corresponding media but nothing compares to a giant toy room full of game boxes and physical media.

The SNES is the system I probably have the most nostalgia for, but that’s most likely because that was the first console I bought with my own money. I look forward to being able to watch the rest of this video later.

Ok, I am very proud of your setup. It looks amazing. Look at all those games vertical in rows so as to not damage them. I see too many vids of people that do horizontal stacks on stacks and that just crushes the games, possibly warps discs over time. You definitely took time, care, and forethought into the setup. Tight & clean game room Pam! Love it.

I would like to hear more about why you purchase so many Jurassic Park games. Also, might be interesting to see a video on your experience working in QA testing games. I did a bit of game testing back in the day (late 90's).

If there is only one NES game I could tell you to play it would be G I Joes Real American Hero. I think we are almost the exact same age, I turn 38 in Feb so I can relate in a lot of the same way as you. Thanks for sharing your collection and keep up the great retro reviews.

I relate so much to that bit about playing DKC at your cousins. We didn’t have any money and my cousins parents were really well off so they had everything. So many late nights playing DKC, legend of the seven stars, Mega man x, Mario party 2, paper Mario…I remember having to ask his dad for help with a button mashing bit on paper Mario haha. Would love to be able to go back just for one day.

This brings up so many memories, especially for PS1 games. You also shown a few games that my dad had on the Amiga 500 and that I could never finish, the 3 I can remember the most were Prince of Persia, Flashback and Another World. I recently picked up Flashback and Another World on the Switch and finally got to finish them. I really enjoyed Another World, it was something quite special. Flashback, I really had to push myself to finish it, mostly as I found the control too clunky during fights. I think I would probably feel the same with Prince of Persia if I could ever play it again. I also tried Loom as a Kid but I could not understand a thing and was stuck really early on (I really enjoyed your video on it, understood why I was stuck and realised I would not have liked it very much anyway when I was ca. 10 years old). Thanks for sharing this collection with us!

I’ve got it on SNES, GBA and SNES mini.
I jumped from Nes to Megadrive then my uncle was playing it, the beginning part where it’s raining. Took me 2 years to save up for a SNES.
My second game was Mystic Quest though, booooo. What a stinker.
      I was only young though.
Big nostalgia glasses. A link between worlds is a good successor. Pam is not a fan of handhelds though.
