- Help me get better at sub rogue! Critique my gameplay and leave me tips and tricks that helped you improve as a sub rogue. Also I want to note any mechanics I screwed up are mainly due to hyper focusing on my rotation since it's still new to me.

Sub rogue theorycrafter and guide writer here, thought id drop some feedback for you since i happened to stumble opon your channel.
First i feel like i should mention that there is a simpler build that you can run for pretty much the same dmg output that doesent involve using vanish to reset cds
that basically just plays like a standard 2min class with shadow dance + symbols every 30 sec inbetween and all you gotta do is pair flagellation up with shadow blades.

You should really focus on keeping up Slice and Dice it has the absolute highest prio, its what enables your energy + gives alot of combo points over time, so make sure its up before going into bursts.
a change in talents can make this job 10x easier so ill link to a talent sheet for that as well

Outside of your shadow dance windows rupture everything that lives more than 12ish seconds.
General gameplay for sub.
you can sumarize the core cooldown gameplay in a very few words and it works wonders for teaching new people.
Symbols of Death on cooldown
Shadow Dance with Symbols of Death
Secret Technique inside of Shadow Dance
Shadowblades always paired up with Flagellation
2x Shadow dance + 2x Symbols of Death inside of Shadowblades.
What this means is something that i see you doing alot during the run is pressing Shadow Dance without Symbols of Death which is very very bad you dont need to be so aggresive with shadow dances
its on a charge system, think about it like Elemental blast on Enhance outside of your Wolves windows just dont overcap stacks then you are good :)
Ill quickly go over the way you should think about cooldown usage when playing Shadow dust.
until you get very very comfortable with the spec id suggest you just think about the spec as a 1min30 class and what i mean by this,
is you follow Shadowblades cooldown so lets say you send your cds so flag+blades then after your first shadow dance is over you vanish to reset cds
now shadowblades went from a 2min cd to 1min30 now your next vanish is gonna be when Shadowblades is back again and ALWAYS pair up Flagellation they should always go together.
This would be your general use for vanish in pretty much all cases to get 2x symbols + 2x shadow dance inside of Flagellation and Shadowblades windows.
And you just keep doing this on a 1min30 cycle and just use Ashes on every 2nd set.
Minor stuff
Cooldowns like Shuriken Tornado is kinda weird so the rule for it is actually just send it on cooldown, so if it lines up with cooldowns GREAT if not then its whatever but the way you would do it with cooldowns is like this.

Strike-Strike-Flag-Rupture-Tornado-Dance+Shadowblades+BP-Secret Technique-BP-BP-Storm-BP-Storm.
ofc still react to combo point refunds from Shadowcraft during this so take the spells with a pinch of salt.
Other than that, just keep at it you are doing alot better for "newer" sub rogue than you give yourself credit for its not an easy spec to perform well on until it really clicks.

Tip: Tricks of the trade your tank while he is gathering mobs so that you can apply rupture comfortably without getting aggro

Allways use ur shurikan tornado with ur cds on 3 count pulls, because it lets u fit more finishers in ur burst. since shurikan tornado outside of cds essentialy only lets u get out 4 mediocre finishers for less gcds. On first boss u also go a very long time with out slice and dice up, becasue u instantly went into you cooldowns now its not a turbo dps loss or anything, but i would strongely recomend using ur subtrefuge window at the start to apply slice and dice, you cds are still there when ur done after all(you can also run the talent that gives ur first shadowstrike 10 sec slice and dice)
Some other things as well, try to remeber when big damage hits go out so u can get better use out of feint, rouges are very tanky but only when feint is used properly. focusing og feint timers are probably one of the most important things if u want to get good as rogue
I also only watched like the first 10 mins, so if i called out anything that you feel like ur allready doing well then thats prbably why

Great advice! I think I’ve been so focused on the other cooldowns I’ve been missing shurikan tornado.
When it comes to slice n dice I always let it drop when cooldowns are rolling so that I can spend combo points on damage. Not sure if that’s correct?
Feint is a god sent and I definitely want to get better utilizing it. Coming from a shaman it’s a beautiful button.

@@YaBoySquints Nah you never w want to use it inside ur cooldowns, so you are right there. But you do want to have it up before going into cds, so ur auto attack damage doesnt fall off. it does add up quite a bit
Poor healer... theres a rumor going on that the dps melee/range actually CAN avoid damage..
I heard that rumor is a myth! I’m typically very good about avoiding avoidable damage. Im still in my starring at my buttons phased with the spec 😅
