Ultimate video for serve grip. At first, I used to feel more power with Australian grip. But as I started using pronation, I could produce more power with continental grip.

My wrist feels weak in serving. I suppose it will get stronger.

Good content all around mate. I see the nice intuitive tennis move getting the beginning student on your channel. She is not as much a beginner as Anna.

    Very insightful.
I'd like to further point out there are only 8 bevels, so the difference between bevel 1 and 2 is (360/8) = 45°.. that's enormous!
I believe there's a lot of room for finer grained positioning of the hand than just bevel 1 and 2 for the serve. I for one use mostly bevel 1.66 on flat serves and some variations of bevel in the range 1.33-1.5 on spin serves.
Also some other thoughts: many platform stance servers on tour seem to have a serve grip a bit more opened than continental, so rather a 1.5 (e.g. Federer, Djokovic, Raonic). Not so much the pinpoint stance servers, so it might be that opening the grip isn't completely compatible with pinpoint stance mechanics? It does tend to move your contact point to the rear and to the left, when pinpoint servers usually prefer to toss, coil and hit more in front, so maybe that's why..

Spot on. I use the eastern backhand grip and I found it by accident. It gives me power on flat and slice serves. It gives me a lot of power and kick on the second serve. I believe this is the grip that Sampras used and I also suspect Federer uses this although it is not apparent or maybe he disguises it to look like a continental grip!

That grip is the Australian grip and it is better for serves and forehand volleys. Good tip Pieter I always watch your tennis tips.

Hi Pieter, please help! I am playing tennis for more than 30 years, and using left-handed eastern backhand grip when serving both the first and the second serve. Is this proper? Maybe I have a slight problem on a first serve, because I am getting too much spin and less power...Do you suggest me to try using a classic continental grip on a first serve, or what? Thank you in advance!

You can play around with the continental on the 1st serve let me know how it goes. But on the 2nd Serve that's a perfect grip

I can shadow swing the bevel 2.0 Continental grip just fine. But when I toss the ball, the grip often shifts to bevel 2.5... This is driving me nuts. Once in a while, the grip stays the same but most times the grip shifts a half bevel. Why does this happen?

It's just old habits trying to come back. If you keep focusing on turning it back, in time it won't shift anymore 💯
