- The Kirby video game franchise, which began in 1992 with Kirby's Dream Land on the Nintendo Game Boy, is one that is known around the world due to its innate charm and ways of invoking childlike wonder. The round, happy little creature Kirby is well known for his cheerful attitude, food-loving nature and peculiar power of being able to copy the abilities of his foes by inhaling them.
Due to these highly memorable traits and abilities, Kirby has gone on to become one of the most well-known and iconic video game heroes in history, with games still being made about him today, such as Kirby Star Allies which came out just recently. With such a big franchise, it is inevitable it would inspire many authors all around the world to create stories about it with their own unique spin on it.

The first one seems like an interesting Idea. Kirby originally being a project artificially made by the citizens and scientists of Dream Land is badass.
I feel the same here. I was like "it's actually not that bad. It's quite good, I like it" during the entire reading of it. It has so much potential as a standalone story.

On my way home from work I stopped by my local game store in hopes of finding a copy of my old favourite game Magical Starsign. I sold mine years ago, but recently started feeling increasingly nostalgic about it, so every now and then I'd see if they had it in stock. As I entered Nick, the seemingly only employee of this store, greeted me with a friendly smile, which spread across his face a bit further than usual. In that moment I knew it was my lucky day. "Hey", he greeted me and without even having to ask pulled out a DS cartridge from under the counter.
"I got that game you were asking for." Nick handed me the game.
"You don't happen to have the case under there, do you?" I asked, slightly disappointed.
"Nah, some kid came in earlier and wanted me to take it without. Wouldn't do that normally, but you were looking for it."
This was slightly unpleasant, but could not dull my excitement. "Pity. How much do you want for it?"
We agreed on a price and Nick even gave me a protection case to make up for not having the actual one. I wished him a good evening and made my way home with the game in my pocket.
After making myself something to eat I got comfortable on the couch with my DS and started up the game. The introduction made me anticipate the journey ahead, following six magically gifted students on their interplanetary mission to save their teacher.
One and a half hours in I decided to save the game and go to bed.
It was a Saturday, so I stayed in bed and powered on my DS. To my shock my save file was nowhere to be found. Disheartened I took out the cartridge, slightly blew on it and the port and restarted it. The file still was gone. After a few minutes of googling I came to the conclusion, that the internal flash memory had somehow been damaged. This meant, that I would not be able to save my game and as the game over screen boots you to the save select my party could not die in game.
Instead of letting this bring me down I decided to see it as an opportunity to challenge myself.
Throughout the next week I never turned off my DS and kept it on the charger at all times, to not risk losing my progress. Multiple times throughout my playthrough my party was almost knocked out entirely, yet somehow I managed to pull through. As I reached the final planet my inventory was stocked with more than enough healing items and my party decently leveled. The gloomy atmosphere of the shadow planet Shadra was weighing down on me. Coming closer to the final boss I started getting nervous. Should I lose now the hours I put into this would have been for nothing. But I was determined to give it my best.
The battle with its first form, a horned, blue larva, dwindled down my restorative items to a fraction of what I brought. As I had been constantly restocking my inventory throughout the game I barely had the funds to get more at the last store. With a pit in my stomach, which seemed to grow deeper with every step my character took, I neared the initial villain of the plot, Master Kale, who captured my character's teacher. He and his magical gummy monstrosity almost decimated my party, before I was able to land a final attack on Kale. I took a deep breath, shaking with tension and anticipation.
The magic of my team united to free the final boss from its chrysalis. As the planet rumbled under the imminent destruction the pit in my stomach inexplicably turned into full on fear. Barely did I dare attack the ominous moth that challenged me. Even as I did my attacks never seemed to hit, doing only a fraction of the damage. Meanwhile my enemy drained away my supplies.
With only one character left standing on my side the moth changed into its second form, a hideous, antlike creature with a swollen, pulsating backside. Unwilling to just give up, despite knowing, that I had already lost, I attacked the creature, again dealing only minimal damage. It was launching a final attack against my character, but to my shock and utter disbelieve instead of my character fainting and the game showing me the game over screen it used its pincers to drag the young magician into its maw.
The music seemed to get unbearably loud as stark white text appeared over this gruesome scene:
"I have come to devour this sun," a voice seemed to echo in my head.
"I came to create a new universe," beckoning me to listen to it.
"So many magicians I have taken," a dark power washed over me, paralyzing me in dreadful fear.
"I took their life, their magic, their future,
their hopes, families and all that thanks to you."
A short moment of silence in my head, then it bellowed, the words scrolling along the screen:
"And your next!"
Beneath the terror that has gripped me a question formed in my head. Shaking from fear I whimpered "My next what?"
A moment of respite. The feeling of dread lessened, the words were frozen on the screen. Without a warning the DS turned off and just as suddenly the darkness that had overcome me vanished.
In disbelieve I picked up the system. It was undamaged, but as I turned it on no game was detected. As I took out the cartridge it was warm to the touch.
Whatever happened seemed to have broken my game.
Yeah...

Goodness it's been so long since I thought of my old flipnote hatena life and now I'm suddenly reminded of the old (and kinda cringy) times I had there. I remember actually stumbling upon that creepypasta and having a laugh about it. Apparently the same person wrote a whole strange wiki about stuff I never made. If anyone knows who this person is, please tell them I send imaginary potted plants (probably purple ones) for the unusual amount of dedication.

I actually think the first one is pretty good for the 'genre' it was going for-- I'm sure there's a more succinct title, but it's basically the 'twisted interpretation of a childhood story'. It actually relies on hurling the audience in with no context and building up the backstory for what is an otherwise innocuous setting, an apocalyptic hellscape before the 'twist' comes in that it was here all along! In this case, the cold open and 'fluff' are necessary to the overall impact at the end, and going back through the story actually deepens the joke when you know what the punchline is.
These stories as a whole aren't really scary, outside the fundamental corruption of an innocent concept, but there's a bit of tension going toward the twist and a cathartic release when you hit the punchline, and I'd say Project K certainly accomplished what it set out to do. Props to that guy.
As someone who is very knowledgeable about Kirby "Lore", I can confirm the story does not fit in with Kirby lore. For one the first Kirby villain was King Dedede, he was attempting to steal all the food in Dream Land, didn't want to hurt anyone, also they Imply there is nothing like Kirby, that he is a genetic mutation, when in fact, Meta Knight is the same species as Kirby, finally the story says that the Waddle Doos, Poppy Bros Jrs. etc. are Meta Knight's minions when they are just normal inhabits of Dream Land who presumably serve under King Dedede. I don't know why I care or why I feel as if the author not knowing this stuff makes it bad, but whatever, It's late, and I used the word "Inhabits a lot.

Chaos Shadow I think you hit the nail on the head there, and for that specific genre, Project K does a better job than most. What I found most intriguing about it was the implication that the Axe Knights and Waddle Doos were created by Meta Knight, and that could be expanded into the idea of a bio-weapon arms race. Naturally, Project K would be the nuclear option, where its creators eventually realize that by making something that does nothing but consume to save their land they've brought their own mutual destruction.
With a bit more refinement on the narrative voice to make it more clinical or military (since this genre takes a lot of influence from SCP), it could be a pretty enjoyable read, even if they made the move to completely eliminate the twist and make it its own story.
There's this story I read several years ago called Xorax which does something very similar, you might like that one.

Wow. I remembered 4ever in Flipnote Hatena when I was 8 years old. Although, her username on Hatena went by "Kirby4ever". She made really great flipnotes and must I say, I praised her like she was my idol. Yet again, I was little during the Hatena years so I was too naive about it.

10. For a first draft, Project K was decent - a cross between the darker side of Kirby and The Colour out of Space. My biggest problem with it is that the writer doesn't seem to have done their research as far as how anything about the story might work in a realistic setting, and seems to assume the reader will interpret the story through the Kirby video games - how far is "from one area to another", for example? Outside the context of a video game, what does that mean?

Rewatching these older creepypasta videos, I think Hoodoo commonly mixed up reveals and twists. A plot twist is something intended to surprise the consumer and often recontextualize much of the piece of media, but often the clues can only be found retroactively. A reveal is similar, in that it is intended to be a surprise to the consumer, but oftentimes the clues are more obvious and easy to pick up on the first time you experience it.
The "twists" in Project K and the story from Number 7 (I cant remember the name) are actually, instead, reveals. The reader more than likely knows the "secret" already, the point to those kinds of stories is the buildup. Thats often why the reveal is the end, because once the reveal is popped theres not much more to tell.

Looking back, I'm pretty sure the author of the first story was referring to a Waddle Doo for the second creature. I think they were implying Waddle Dees are the natives of Dreamland, which is only really true if you're assuming King Dedede created Kirby and the lab was in his castle.

"He he he" dedede chucked "you don't know who you're dealing with. Cause as you can see..." his abs then rip through his robe "*I AM A SUPA STA WARRIAH!" He then whipped out his dedede, using it as an hammer. The white kirby tried to run away but his dedede was so massive he got knocked down. Then, before you know it, dedede swung his dedede on the figure so hard it went flying into space.

Ya know, considering the Kirby series has bloody eye demons, machine murdering innocent people, multiple forms of possession, Dark Mind, and a cult worshipping said bloody eye demons and summoning a final boss straight out of Majora's Mask, creepy stuff in Kirby is pretty par for the course.
Plus I mean, in episode 45 of the anime, Dedede pretends he was shackled up, possessed, and murdered with fake blood and everything so I mean yeah
