    Thanks for this series, very usefull! To nitpick one thing, an SSR does not convert any voltage, its simply shuts of and on the AC power with the DC power.

    I think it's important to mention that you should use a reliable power supply for the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ of 2.5A or better (like the official one for the RPi). This will ensure proper power if you use any peripherals like a webcam for Octolapse.

    SSR relay "converts" DC voltage to AC voltage? Slip of tonque, I am sure...

      It's not really a slip of the tongue, it's common to refer to transistors, etc. that switch loads as converting the signal. A good example is if you create a power amplifier from transistors, your input is a signal from a low power source, and the output is a higher power signal which was provided from elsewhere and modulated by your input signal.

      That may be true, but "converting the signal" is much different from "converting the current." Nero said that the SSR "converts the low-voltage direct current from your controller into a high voltage alternating current." This phrasing is simply inaccurate because it implies that the properties of the DC current are altered by the SSR in such a way to become those of AC current (obviously not true). As an example of a situation where the current actually is converted, a rectifier and filter system converts an AC current into a DC current by changing the actual properties of the current itself. An SSR just mediates two segregated currents.
      As for your example, the amplifier converts a low-power signal into a high power signal. But it's not converting the current carrying the low-power signal into a current carrying a high-power signal. Because Nero said the latter and not the former (and the former wouldn't even be applicable here because an SSR doesn't really convert a signal unless you consider one single step up to be a "signal"), I don't think he gets off on a technicality here. But of course, this is all unnecessarily pedantic because the point is fairly clear if you have a basic knowledge of what a relay does, so it's not a grave error or anything, lol.

      Look at the Voron 2.2 manual page 81-82. There is a simple micro switch used as a z-endstop. Cheers.

    Thank you so much for these videos . I've been dying to jump in and build a Voron , but going off just the build guide and BOM is a bit intimidating for a newbie like me. Can't wait to see the full series!

      Hi man, I'm much like you! Never build a 3d printer myself from scratch, only a kit once. I suggest to join the discord and ask anything that comes to mind (and read pinned posts and use the search option hehe). Slow and steady, you'll get there eventually!

    Where does the fsr go in the build? Location relative to print bed.

      I'm guessing under the screw the nozzle pushes on the corner of the print bed?

    Was just curious if the speced pl-08n2 has a known failure problem or if I just have bad luck? I've had 3 go bad in 4 months or so

      Ive had ones last years, others weeks, it IS a cheaper probe and there are different vendors/manufacturers. There is links to higher quality alternatives in the sourcing guide now.
