    Great videos I'm starting my culture and I use this video for my reference I can't wait to see the growth like you had and also it's like having a small tank I love watching those little things dart around I kind of feel bad for feeding them to the Mandarin 😂

    Followed your first video when my culture starter kit arrived last week as I was a little unsure what went where so thanks for the initial help to get mine up and running. Few tidbits, hope you don't mind! The valve that was provided with the kit (that you installed in vid 1) has a twisty knob on the end of it that controlls the amount of air that is allowed through the tube. Instead of having loose/tight knots in the tubing itself you can simply tighten/untighten this to get the desired flow and it works great. I've managed to get it to release 1 bubble per 4 seconds if I wanted but I'm running at a couple per second like yourself. The other thing I wanted to say/ask is that I'm feeding via squeezing drops& loosening the lid and getting to the same coloured water as you but my water changes back to clear after around 14-18 hours (when I feed again) and you said 3-5 days perhaps even a week which concerned me a little - I don't want to crash the culture! Could this be because my water temp is higher, so breeding is more active? Mine is sat on my windowsill and is around 23.3 degrees during the day and even after 6 days I can see a lot of life has developed.
    Thanks for the videos and if possible I'd love an update as to how you harvested and how you water changed as those two things are really daunting for me right now. I purchased the copepod net on top of the kit so I'm pretty much ready to go when the time is right but I have no idea how to go about it. Any tips?

      Hey vetent thanks for your questions.. so happy you have started your own culture and my videos are helping you. So firstly the reason I put a knot in my air line is because my air flow control valve is not that great i could not get it to the suitable air flow rate. But when I put the loop in my airline it works perfectly. For your feeding question It could be you have more pods in your culture than my culture. these past few days it has took off and there is loads of them in there now. I'm still feeding every three to 5 days maybe feed a little more if yours is depleting quicker. Remember the colour of the water on camera might be slightly different. I plan on doing an update on the culture soon (within the next couple of weeks ) and I will include harvesting them in the video 🙂 dont worry too much about changing the water in the culture just yet I still havnt changed mine and it's been a while now. But when I do the harvesting video I will get the footage of how I do a water change too 🙂 hope this helps

      @@TheSaltyLife Perhaps I'm not getting the water green enough. When this goes clear again I'll feed via a pipette and use the same amount you did and see how long that lasts.

      @@vetent4259 yeah what I will do is also in the next update I will show in measurements on the pipette how much I actually put in. Sorry it wasnt clearer in the video.

    Been looking around for info on copepod culturing. Found useful stuff but gave up around January. It just didn't seem right for a beginner like me.
    Then by accident i found your videos. Off to buy supplies tomorrow.
    Thanks.

      Thanks michael glad you liked it just a quick update as the video I was originally going to upload of the 200 has to be postponed. Thank you for the feedback yeah I'm happy it seems to be working out. You never know with these things but just shows the simple setup way does work 🙂

      @@DoubleCFit it's a crazy/sad/infuriating story...one that made me upset & p*ssed its definatly something I'm going to talk about in a future video I will probably dedicate a video to talking about it. But for now all is good.. reef is doing great and fish are great. I've just gotta get new footage for the next update of the 200 which is why I havnt posted an update of the 200 in a couple of weeks. But it's coming 🙂

    My culture doesn't have big ones like yours, but it definitely has really small ones dotting around. How'd you get yours so fatty?

      I dont do anything special literally just feed ever few days when the water looks clear. These pods are tigger pods so I'm not sure if the different species of pods are different sizes. Im guessing they probs are. Could be that 🤔 😊

  • @paularamos5752
    @paularamos5752 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    An easy way to keep ur pods is to use fine net, thru the top and take water out with a turkey baster….just push net down from top and suck water from net…
