Love hearing the songwriters story about the process of such a classic song Howard Stern is the best interviewer! He lets nothing slip, always asks the impossibly tough questions. Yet people want to show things that they would not show other interviewers either. (They volunteer it without him even asking it!) Hail Howard!!
He put the lyrics and did some arrangement, the song was already made the name is Comme d'habitude from Claude Francois. Composed by Jacques Revaux, Claude Francois and Gilles Thibaut. So, yeah.
With all due respect, my understanding is that "MY WAY" is the translated french version of the song, named " Comme d' habitude" Composed by two ( french ) gentlemen. Claude François and Jacques Revaux Music and lyrics. Paul Anka translated the lyrics. The essence of the song. Good job.
Anka got the songwriting credit, I am sure he was the one who was making the real money on that song, Sinatra made his money when he went on tour and everything
He is the writer of the lyrics. The other two people credited are because of the music being from a French song which he mentions in this interview. He didn't claim he wrote the music just that he took it from another song and altered it.
I often feel that way - although some of Sinatra’s early recordings are surprisingly tuneful. I think it is somewhat well-documented that he was a more agile vocalist in his early years.
haha you have a point about him not having much range, but he had a very strong and smooth voice in my opinion, quite powerful although limited in range for sure

I didn't know Paul Anka had such great writing and composing talent. I love My Way and The Times of Our Life. Wonderful.
IT IS FRENCH SONG. WTF.
Anka changed my mind about the quality of the teen idol scene. Always had a sophisticated and nuanced vision
He put the lyrics and did some arrangement, the song was already made the name is Comme d'habitude from Claude Francois.
Composed by Jacques Revaux, Claude Francois and Gilles Thibaut.
So, yeah.
He says so in the interview as well. Doesn't change the fact that "My Way" is one of the most famous songs of all time.
Wow! Paul Anka looks and sounds great! He's aging in reverse.
With all due respect, my understanding is that "MY WAY" is the translated french version of the song, named " Comme d' habitude" Composed by two ( french ) gentlemen.

Just listened to it in french... It is a total ripoff! Anka says he redid the whole thing...bulls*t
Let us all be grateful that such a beautiful song made it to America! One of my favorites.
He used the tune of the French song but the words are totally different
Man Paul Anka is f*cking cool!
lives in my heart
I'm also a fan of the Sid Vicious cover of this tune. My Austrian Uncle would call him "Vicious Sid"...
Legend
Paul didn't want Elvis to sing it.... Unbelievable really !!!!
Right, Claude Francois and Jacques Revaux wrote a beautiful song.
Read Leslie Cosby above.

Frank could have thrown him a few bucks....

Elvis did the some better.
He didn't write the song, he just translated therefor no... not his song
Srry, you can all hate me; I've never understood the fascination with Sinatra and his monotone voice. extremely overrated.
I often feel that way - although some of Sinatra’s early recordings are surprisingly tuneful. I think it is somewhat well-documented that he was a more agile vocalist in his early years.
Elvis have a much larger vocal range and a better voice
haha you have a point about him not having much range, but he had a very strong and smooth voice in my opinion, quite powerful although limited in range for sure
