  • If you are 65 years and over (50 and over for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples) and do not have an NDIS plan, there is an important change coming from July 1, which will impact which service provider you book interpreting for medical appointments through.
Interpreting for medical appointments has previously been provided by the National Auslan Booking System (NABS).
But from 1 July 2024, you will need to book an interpreter through a different program: the National Sign Language Program (NSLP). The NSLP provides similar services to NABS, and interpreting services under the NSLP are arranged through Deaf Connect.
