I love how you demonstrate the "incorrect" as well as "correct" reaction and what to do next. Sometimes trainers demonstrate perfect riding on perfect horses and then I don't know what to do when things don't work as they should. Your video explanations are so beneficial to us learning at lower levels.
So glad this was helpful! Would love to have you at my upcoming webinar! amelianewcombdressage.com/contact-and-connection-free-webinar-2024/?TH-cam&+DTR+2024
Thanks Amelia. So happy you added self carriage to your curriculum. If you teach your horse, self carriage, then invisible aids will be much easier to master. Your horse will definitely thank you in your training journey.
Thank you Amelia for that video. It tells me that what I'm trying to do with my horse right now is correct, and so I'll continue working at it. Setting him up correctly seems to me to be crucial, and it helped to hear you remind us not to nag. It's so easy to fall into that...
Great takeaways! Would love to have you join us at an upcoming webinar on contact and connection. RSVP here: amelianewcombdressage.com/contact-and-connection-free-webinar-2024/?TH-cam&+DTR+2024
I see riders demand that the horse to get more in front of the leg with a sharper aid, but when the horse gives them a canter instead of a more forward trot they pull back and pull down and stop the horse. This is the opposite of what they're trying to achieve and they don't even know! As you said, you have to be ready to ride whatever is on the other side! As long as the horse goes forward, you got the right answer from him/her! It definitely takes a bit of bravery on the more sensitive horses. Haha!

I’m glad to see a horse that’s not a push button, because mine surely isn’t yet! You’re such a good rider and that takes years of experience…)
Thank you so much!!
