      can you help me about eczema, ive suffered since i was a baby it has got alot better over the years but even with creams from doctors i still have dry flakey skin on my forehead, eyes and around my mouth and nose creases, and when i wear foundation you can see it even more, ive tried many different foundation and creams but i cant seem to find anything that works for me and i love wearing make up but i havent wore any for nearl a year and i just dont feel happy about going out on dates with my boyfriend i just feel like people are staring at me and pointing out how bad my skin is

      Hi, Nic! Hope you had fun on your date :) just a quick question. Sometimes, when I apply peachy concealer over the green-blue area under my eyes, it makes the undertones standout! :( In the inner corner it looks great, but at the outer edge of the under eye, you can clearly see some small veins trying to pop up, or the underneath colour :( and building up the coverage does not seem to help. I use a NW25 in studio finish and for reference I m a C5 in Face&Body. Although I love the coverage of this concealer, in those areas it does not seem to help. Thanks a lot for taking the time to see our questions and hopefully you will reply to most of them :)

    This video is great! Not only are you breaking down a difficult concept and actually teaching your audience something useful, but you are imparting a lot of wisdom. I think it's easy for people watching make up tutorials and seeing edited pictures to think that the person who is wearing the makeup has flawless skin, but sometimes it is just filters, lighting and editing. Thank you for making it really apparant (mostly to younger viewers) that we all have imperfections and that's ok. Thank you for this video x

      I think it's so important that our viewers see really woman not trying to hide anything when they watch sam and I. It annoys me so much when people fake it as its not fair on the people that then go out and buy that product and waste money on something they think are going to make miracles happen. Thanks for your comment it means a lot xx

      pixiwoo oh my god. So on point. That's why you guys are my all time fave. Greetings from Indonesia. Please come here and do a make up session. I'll be glad to help and arrange. There are so many new "Instagramers/TH-camrs" instant make up artist who only understand one way of doing make up (which is on their own face) and doesn't do justice to us, viewers. Thanks for bringing back the basic knowledge and to accept our flaws!

    Nic, I really loved your frankness and down-to-earth perspective. I had a lot of acne growing up and I overwashed it because I believed the break outs were because of that.... and it always made it worse. I learned the hard way that beauty comes from the inside: drink more water, lower the sugar intake, wear spf... and such. Lots of tutorials online claim to solve all skin problems, but in the end that kind of makeup looks just awful and cakey when you see it up close... texture man! Again, thank you for giving an honest, simple and true information. Greetings from Ecuador.

    As a super pale girl with rosacea, I've always preferred green primer to yellow. I have a tendency to look very jaundice when someone puts a yellow primer on me, whereas green evens out my complexion perfectly without making my cheeks appear a different shade/undertone than the rest of my skin. Just some suggestions for pale girls!

    Can I say from a girl who has suffered from acne since a teenager THANK YOU! I loved that you mentioned there is nothing wrong with a person with acne and it's not because of cleanliness. I've been watching you guys and other youtubers/makeup artists for years. I knew most of your tips on color correcting and concealing from all the videos I've watched throughout the years, but have NEVER seen a video of so in-depth content. This is great for beginners and preventing many mistakes. You explain everything in a very simple way. Love love love. Hope you make more videos like these, Nic. Thanks for being so patient in explaining everything, and most of all, in reassuring us of what will and can't change with makeup. Sometimes we forget that imperfections can't always be covered up, and we shouldn't give a damn about it. Skin is skin, and no one's is perfect. Have a great weekend!

    Thanks for saying, that people shouldn't stare at other people who suffer from acne. I suffer from acne for many years now and I hate it, when people who have no idea about it say it's because of my foundation or think that I don't cleanse. I cleanse more and look after my skin like crazy, more than people without acne would ever do. So thank you so much for clearing that up, because we really SUFFER of acne and it so difficult for many of us to even leave the house without a full coverage. And staring at someone makes us feel even more uncomfortable.
    Thanks again and lovely video like always !!!! :)

    I'm so glad you mentioned how hormones can have an impact on acne- I had always thought it was my fault I was getting spots because people (not everyone) often jump to conclusions like you said. I just wanted to ask which out of powder/cream/liquid foundations you think are best for covering scars and spots? Thanks Nic :) xx

    The best advice my mom ever give me about makeup and coloring was to do it all in steps at a makeup counter. Try foundations one by one. After each foundation, walk around the mall if you're there, go outside and let it oxidize more or hit the sun and look in all types of lighting. Same with other foundations and concealers! I'm 20 and it's taken me 4 years to find my perfect foundation color and formula, and the same with concealers (for different purposes). Patience is a key with this and I get the exact look how I want it!
    Great advice from you and added with my mother's I can do almost anything I want with my face plying with coverage and coloring! Thank you! Love you!

    So glad you mentioned acne. So sick of hearing people wax on about diet, clarisonics and the "dangers" of oral antibiotics. I may not know what it is like to have acne but always assumed it was hormonal or genetic and that if you have it, you have it and it is no fault of your own.

    One thing that I feel is really important when color correcting is to keep in mind, and take a good look at, your body's color as a whole. Some people have a ton of reddness all over their body, so to nuetralize all the redness on the face could make their face look alien to their body. It is really is tricky. Just because the face is warm or cool, doesn't always mean that the body is as well. And it's way easier to adjust the undertone of the face with makeup then the entire body. :) Good job Nic, great video as always.. 👍

    • @illusionsfan1
      @illusionsfan1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      radxlikexme I agree with the redness... I'm such a "red" person that I need pinky foundations because I feel like if you can't see my redness at all then that's not a realistic portrayal of my skin lol. I may look a bit whiter than normal in my profile picture but I'm pretty sure I was wearing a BB or foundation with SPF and it's a flash photo so I kind of... illuminate white lol. My skin does the same thing if I go out in sunlight it seems to reflect like a mirror... unless I stay out for like 5mins then I start burning pretty much lol

    • @Nicola.Chapman
      @Nicola.Chapman  9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Flakiness can not be beaten with just moisturiser and liquid foundation you need to exfoliate not to often but maybe once a week. Use a light exfoliater nothing to abrasive. Don't expect results after one use but bare with it and hopefully it will help you. Still moisturise as normal. X

    • @nikki93xx
      @nikki93xx 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I suffer with flakiness and theres no getting rid of it, I get it around my nose and my forehead, what I do when I'm applying foundation is that after I moisturise I use the Maybeline baby skin primer which is a clear primer and it just settles the flakey skin and doesn't exaggerate it :) the only thing that's working so far :)

      Creative Mismatch I have very very dry skin and I find MUFE Liquid Lift works great at cover my dry patches. Now I don't know about how it will react to your acne, but if you can I would definitely try a sample. Another great foundation for dry skin is Chantecaille Future Skin. It's sheer but buildable and comes in tons of colors.

      if you have a darker skintone you could try a more orange or maybe almost "reddish" concealer for correcting your undereyes instead of pink or peachy shades. Kiko does a concealer that is orange, if you wanna see it in action Amelia Liana uses it im a get ready, she also has a darker skintone and quite dark undereyes.

    THANK U FOR UR HONESTY!! YES, there often aren't simple answers, YES people sometimes have to accept their problems & they can't correct them with make up without there being another negative consequence. THANK U!! Finally someone goes in depth about the reality behind make up & skin!!

    Love the honesty. I can barely watch other make up TH-camrs because they always make it sound so cookie cutter and perfet for everybody. You guys keep it real.
    Personally I am struggling with sharp scars on my nose and forehead (Colleague accidentally dropped a heavy iron bucket on my face a couple years ago, how lovely), and everything you said about texture is very true. You cannot hide them. But at least you can make other parts of your face stand out :)

    This is a INCREDABLY helpful video, because most likely everyone has something on the skin they want to hide. I think that Mac conceal and correct would be perfect for me, because I have a lot of redness and also really annoyng dark circles. Thanks!

    Most informative vid ive seen ..So refreshing to hear " it doesnt matter what you put on it aint gonna change things" Im all for trying to "improve" but love the fact youve pointed out if youve got a big bumpy blemish theres no concealer on the planet is going to make it look less like Everest :) x

    So glad you explained the under eye. I can never find anything that works for mine so now I know I will never powder under them again. The creasing was driving me nuts. Thank you so much for that information.

    Lovely video! I found working on more mature skin that spot treating/ concealing is the best way to go! I feel like a lot of girls are mislead in the sense of them needing foundation all over the entire face. You can still get a full coverage look without it looking too heavy! Great video with great advice! Sending love from Utah!

    Thank you for the disclaimer about not being able to make a pimple look flat. I feel like so many people expect makeup artists to not only change their look but their texture. Like you said it's impossible. What's not impossible is getting into a good skincare regimen that can improve the skin overall. Great skin care is the KEY to good makeup. Great informational video!

    Great video. I suffer from blemishes, they get worse during time of the month when my hormones are all over the place. I really look after my skin, unfortunately they are just there. I know how much of a confidence knock it has on people, but I think it's important to know that spots come and go, it's your inner beauty that matters most. I love your videos, really inspiring and I adore trying out your make up looks, so thank you!

    Nic, this was a fantastic video. Really expert tips and information. I love how you were real with what makeup can and can't do, like hiding the texture of skin or concealer creasing with lines. I think a lot of people never mention the limitations of makeup when it's applied to real people.

    Precious Nic, this is a fantastic video. Tu so much for making it. I love that u spoke truth but tried to also remain positive, informative, and encouraging. Very well done. Glad u had the color wheel as well. You look beautiful! Also, I always remind myself how very critical my food/beverage intake is to my skin and how brilliant proper skin "prep"/care is each day BEFORE I put anything at all onto my skin. Tu again for such a wonderful vid. Blessings! ~ Melody
