I believe bigotry all stems from 3 things, ignorance, arrogance and insecurity. Ignorance in not hearing the facts, arrogance in thinking You're always right and insecurity in fearing what you don't understand. I was mad at first because I thought she said Trans people didn't exist or something but I Knew that I didn't Know all the details so I kept my mouth shut. You know what they say about people who ass-u-me. But a part of me feels bad for the lgbtq community, of course they over reacted. Of course they did, why wouldn't they when All they have Ever known is immediate rejection from society, not to mention from their own kind must hurt the most because most people who hate gays are gay themselves and are unable to accept that because of how society has treated that group of people so they lash out literally at their own kind. It's truly heartbreaking because I see republicans do it all the time, they can't cope with being gay so when they can't hold it in anymore yet can't let it out, we get this.

6:59 despite my joke. JK Rowling never deserved this, she’s said things I don’t 100% agree with but the important point of disagreement with someone is that you never wish them harm(JK never strikes me as the kind of person who means any harm to anyone….maybe that naive of me). However if a group can’t separate valid Critique and concerns from hatred then I think we need to have a discussion as to why that is first because it’s not healthy. I’m autistic and there are things I hear all the time that I don’t necessarily like or agree with but I don’t jump down people’s throats for voicing those thoughts. Something I think is important for a fully functional person to do is, if something is said that you don’t like then you need to figure out the spirit in which it’s said in and if you can’t tell maybe take it as the best possible version of what’s being said since if you read this comment maybe you interpret that I’m angry or sad or happy, I got no clue how you’re interpreting it but I’d hope you read this as me trying to be constructive(while also covering my bases).

As a fellow neurodivergent person (ADD and ADHD) it’s always struck me that so many people seem to feel the need to completely agree or completely reject a person, an idea, a point of view. That deep-seated need to dissect and simultaneously take very literally, and then jump to conclusions is… weird to me. Why this unwillingness to see nuance?
Same as you, I don’t agree with all of JK Rowling’s views. Why should I have to? Why expect perfection “because she’s in the public eye”? Why reject scientific articles and solid research because something else she said might not mesh 100% with my views?
Maybe it’s my neurodivergence that causes me to see a lot of nuances where so many others don’t see them. Maybe it’s my years of traveling from early childhood onwards, living in cultures different from my home country’s. Maybe I’m just weird. But I shy away from rejecting someone’s utterances outright and at face value. Instead, I tend to dive down a rabbit hole of research to check the facts that may lay behind those utterances, if there is a solid basis behind them whilst always being aware of the dangers of confirmation bias. It’s how I was raised and how I roll. Take away the emotional aspects and reactions, and look at it as objectively as I possibly can.
I’m fully aware that this seemingly contradicts my statement about people feeling the need to dissect, because I’m dissecting myself when I dive down those rabbit holes. The difference is keeping one’s head cool.
Anyhow, cutting short a long ramble that probably doesn’t make a lick of sense to a lot of people. There are always a lot of things and facets to consider and it seems to me that emotions often get in the way. It makes sense to me to look at the good, the bad, the ugly and the sad. To consider the dangers and the drawbacks of a movement, to acknowledge the possible consequences. Precious few people seem to do that.
My great-grandma’s wise advice was: “Even if you think someone is worth hating, REALLY listen to what they’re saying. You might learn something. Even if you think someone is worth loving and following to the ends of the Earth, REALLY listen to what they’re saying. It might scare you.”

My biggest concern isn’t specifically about jk Rowling or the trans community
This is a much bigger issue where not agreeing 100% with certain people / ideas can make you look villainess.
And this really can apply with any group / view.
Even if we agree or disagree, part of what helps this is things like the wording and voice tone, and especially not expecting everyone to agree. But understanding is still possible, just not as much in this day and age
I just miss when there was a time, I could watch a movie / tv show, or play a video game, that was just based on fun. Nothing more nothing less.
But this too seems to be lacking :(

As someone who is LGB, I agree with her on a lot of things. As a biological female, I refuse to give in to those things society has made acceptable IF it causes harm to children, or another group of people.

Also it’s very disingenuous when the idea of LGBTQ+ is being framed as everyone who is in those categories is of one mind. So online if people make statements about what trans people want, or how they should be treated, it’s then expected that every gay person, or every bisexual person also holds these opinions so if you disagree you’re being hateful to the entire community.
Also certain areas of the trans community online has become quite ludicrous and there are plenty of people “within the community” who would tell you that as a whole it’s becoming toxic and hostile to anyone who doesn’t fall in line.

Hi there, I just wanted to comment on some of the things you said. This comment will probably be a bit lengthy but I do welcome you to debate if you find that helpful!
Before even starting my deeper reply, I wanted to clarify that my information here is based on my own experience as a transgender person, and on reading I have done prior. I don't have any sources to cite at the present, but I could get some if you want.
Firstly, the fact that you used LGB implies that you yourself are a not transgender person. While in some contexts dropping the T can be considered transphobic, I'm going to assume you just wanted to make clear you are not a transgender person yourself. That however did confuse me because you made it appear as though being lesbian, gay or bisexual gives one the credit to discuss trans people rights as an expert. I would disagree with this as, presuming you don't have a degree in relating areas, that would mean it isn't a great basis for an argument.
Now, while it is true that biologically transgender women can never be exactly the same as cisgender women, this should not be a basis for discrimination(notable exceptions: I agree there are a few sports where being transgender might give you an actual advantage due to bonestructure).
Furthermore, safe spaces are not being "taken away" from women. I can think of no strong arguments why trans women can't be allowed in for example dressing rooms and restrooms; after all, they are women, even if they aren't cisgender. Some people might comment on this by stating that a cisgender man could pretend to be a transgender woman to get into women's spaces. To that I would react that sadly such a man might very well accomplish the same disgusting things whilst not pretending to be transgender. Additionally, cisgender women can also commit such crimes(if rarer), and they and transgender women would probably both be removed from such spaces if they actually did engage in such bestial behaviours.
Next, hormone blockers are not prescribed to five year olds. If there is a known occurrence of such a thing that was probably done illegally or through a loophole. Puberty blockers are usually assigned when puberty starts and during the puberty itself. These blockers are not proven to have any lasting effects. Hormones such as estrogen and testosterone can be ascribed in some countries from as early as the age of 15, if they have had a proper medical diagnosis. And surgery, something transphobes frequently say is performed on young kids, typically only happens after people become 18, with an exception I know of being breast removal having been done at 16 after medical diagnosis and a year of being on testosterone. I want to make clear that I am not saying that you yourself believe that this is the case, but as I have heard such arguments used frequently I thought to debunk them prior to their possible usage.
Lastly, I wholeheartedly agree that society should not normalise things harming children or groups of people. However, as stated previously, transgender people (as a group, not individually(there probably are pervert transgender people, as there are in any group of people)) don't harm kids. And additionally, some of the statements made by JK Rowling and quite a lot of legislature does harm transgender people; a group of people. And as you said, which I agree with, society should not make things acceptable which harm groups of people.
Now I hope that you will read my arguments here carefully, and if you wish to reply, ask any questions, or further up the debate, I am very much open to it.
P.S. sorry that this comment is so long

I tried mostly to stay out of whether I agreed with J.K. or not. It wasn't a safe place, because I am in the trans rights corner but there is really hard scientific evidence to support the fact that it does come with some serious risk.
That said, whether I agree or don't agree with the author. It didn't make me turn my back on the series. Denying the Harry Potter books would be like denying a very big part of what got me through a rather lonely and sad childhood. So I always took the stance of love the books, indifference to the author.

Funnily enough I've never really been a fan of Harry Potter, which may raise the question of why I'm subscribed to you 😂 in all honesty it's because I like the lengths you go to, to deepdive into the source material and while it hasn't really changed my opinion on Rowling's ability as an author, I enjoy your content. I respect Rowling for standing by her convictions on the subject also as I find too many celebrities like Radcliffe and Watson are so far removed from reality that they just go with whichever way the wind blows in Hollywood and Watson especially is so ignorant and narcissistic it honestly disgusts me that she feels she has any right to tell people what's right and wrong knowing that it doesn't affect her anyway as long as it keeps her in the public eye because as far as my opinion goes she's an extremely mediocre actress and probably senses that her relevance is diminishing rapidly as she ages and probably just wants to stay in Hollywood's good books because lord knows her lack of talent won't carry her 😂 it makes it worse in my opinion that Watson is also an advocate of "feminism" which is just so disingenuous given her stance on transitioning.
But that is enough of my ranting. I don't believe in hating people for believing what they choose to believe, that's their business but trying to force your beliefs on others is where I draw the line. Everyone has the right to choose but if you try to take away that right from someone else just to validate your own beliefs, that is so wrong and despicable.
Anyway rant really over this time. Just kind of got carried away. Just wanted to let you know that I'll stand with you to the end ☺️

Despite I agree with JKR's views I still believe that the actors(except Rupert Grint) shouldn't have called her out because she was the reason people recognize them as famous celebrities. I don't care about their opinions but still calling the same author who made you the famous celebritiess you are today is just wild.

It would take a very mature person to acknowledge that he has been wrong with his views and accusations and actually to make a public apology. Pointing with this especially to Radcliff who very much has "mansplained" how Rowling don't have medical degree and thus has no place to give comments about trans which are contrary to views of main medical institutions (which are since fall down or changed their transpolicies). Also he had intentionally misunderstood all these years what Rowling has said and thus reveals that he doesn't know her at all even when he pretend otherwise - or he is just a selfish idiot, which is also possibility. Also I'd think that HP fanbase has huge amount of girls and women who are facing downside of transpolicies and he - and his co-actors - don't mind at all their feelings and rights.

Thank you for making this video. I have supported your channel since I first found it. Thank you for being honest and open. Extremists of ANY kind are just toxic. I am saddnened when you tell us about the hate you have endured simply for enjoying Harry Potter so much. I love your channel and I hope you keep making videos. In fact, I am on another Harry Potter read through of all 7 books. I will always enjoy Harry Potter youtube content.

No, silence is not ignorance. It's self preservation . Unfortunately it seems that youu can't voice an opinion or fact without getting backlash. I agree with her 100% . Please don't crucify me me for what I 'm about to say: though it's said that none of them would speak to her ever again but J.K knows her own worth and she doesn't need people prone to backstab others just like that. She had gone through so much already .

I’m just going to say this and I’m not taking sides with anyone cause I have family and friends that are transgender. But this has gotten way out of control honestly,I mean kids have been targeted for liking Harry Potter and people who don’t pick a side are made into monsters and villains. Again I’m a huge supporter of the community and the Harry Potter series,I’m also a huge supporter of this channel it has helped me through some issues and dark times including several breakups. All I’m saying is leave people alone who have stated that they don’t want to take sides, but above all stop targeting content creators and their families because they aren’t involved in this argument that has gotten way too out of control children are innocent and shouldn’t have to be afraid of being targeted by strangers or to even step outside their own homes.

What I never understood about this whole thing is that if jk Rowling was opened to having dumbledore be gay and in love with grindelwald why would people think she's not opened minded and fair she is and she's just addressing being safe if we all want fair treatment we have to be opened minded even to safety too

I have to say that, after all these years, this is the very first time I’ve heard about J. K. Rowling’s comments addressing the biomedical aspects of this controversy, and almost the first mention I’ve ever heard of these “puberty blockers” and other treatments at all. While I still maintain that the author’s comments were complex and contentious, rather than purely good or evil, I do have to say that this indicates some pretty biased reporting on the part of her detractors and the mainstream media, since these objections both change the context for remarks, and are more substantial than mere statements of opinion.

Now for your channel. I can't afford to contribute money but you don't give a crap about that. I have 2 Harry Potter channels I follow and yours was the first. So I am not going anywhere. This is one of my favorite channels so keep up being you.

to start with, everyone is entitled to their opinion!
As i mentioned before on another video on this channel, i was going to go down the route of M to F transition, but time, money, and health were not on my side, so i decided not to (this means that i feel that i know what im talking about).
There is physical gender, and mental gender (aka Gender Identity), the extreme Ttrans community is trying to blur the lines between those, or even delete the first, this must not heppen!
More specifically for under the age of consent and proper thought and decision making, well thats a grey area, people are different, children even more so, some may not be ready at 13 to make the right choice, but some may be ready. Im not sure even the best psychotherapists or analysts can even judge correctly.

I believe everybody should be entitled to their own opinion, your own opinion is sacred, pro or against it don't matter, it's part of living in free country. Though it's nice to have people speaking for the rights of a minority, they cross a fine line when they try to; wreck someone's career over their own personal opinion, try to cancel a franchise that doesn't even bare subtext to the Creator's own beliefs, harass someone until they agree or at least pretend to agree. There's a fine line between being an activist who wants to genuinely fight for their or other's rights and an extremist that resorts to bullying someone for their own 15 minutes of fame. The sad thing that it's these fundamentalists who attack others and forcibly cram their way of life down another's throat that in turn undo the hard work and respect that prior activism had fought hard to achieve. All in all if they want respect, peace and equality then they need to show they are capable of giving that to others, regardless of belief and opinion.

So basically JK Rowling did nothing wrong but overly sensitive people went into a tism fit
    That sounds about right
Look if someone is Trans thats fine you do yoy live your best life but dont get upset whem someone comes at you with scientific facts and leaves their personal feelings on the matter at the door
I'm never gonna gst into my feelings on the whole Transgender thing because no matter what i was to say i guarantee you someone will get offended

I hope you feel better soon, Dean, just make sure you're drinking enough water and getting as much rest as you need!
One day I hope that JK and Daniel can at least talk to each other, if not to make up at least to have some proper closure, but I highly doubt it'll ever happen with Emma; she's become far too egotistical to admit she was ever wrong and it's sad but not uncommon with former child stars.
Not really sure where the rest of them stand but I can only hope they keep it civil if they do speak on it, they owe her that much respect at the very least.

  • @Barboron

J.K.Rowling, the woman who based. I won't agree with her in all points but she sticking to her guns, although she's got the power and money to do so. Emma Watson got so tied up in being an activist because her childhood was lost to the movie series, so easily manipulated.
Daniel, didn't seem as public with it but I know he made some statement against Rowling's opinions/statements. Maybe it's a bias but he seemed like he wanted to be on the fence, or even take the route where he feels like he would please the most people, get people to like him because he can't have people hate him. Either way, still manipulated.
Daniel, could maybe listen to his apology but not Emma. Her 'activism' is a shroud for arrogance and hatred, like many others. So many celebrities have this circular problem where, because they're famous, people listen. Since people listen, and put them on a pedestal, their opinions are given weight, hollow as it is. So this weight gives these celebrities a false sense of intelligence, like their opinion or statements are actually intelligent or well thought. Thus, they make more, people follow it blindly, and the cycle goes on.

hello dean or harry potter folklore, all i just wanna say is i commented this before and i’ll comment again, i’ll never unsubscribe from this channel ever , i’ll remain harry potter for life, harry potter forever, that’s how i’ll feel about you. As for jk, i just understand what’s going on and how i feel on it, aren’t there other people feel empathy to jk, i mean i’m pretty sure that there are others that feel bad about jk after all she was the first one to ever turn this franchise before this problem began into books and since then they gone off with a storm, my brother rea the books, my sister read the books, jk went massive ever since back in the day and since then, then they became movies and ever since the movies began and along the way i began watching the movies and collected them, i became infatuated with it, even though i began watching the movies and never read the books, i remain harry potter for life. As for emma and dan all i care about is if they’re done they’re done, i’m not gonna make a problem with it, it’s what emma and dan feel and if that’s what emma and dan feel then i guess that’s it. As for me on jk i definitely feel empathetic, i understand this is hard and everyone can’t fathom with this and in these times i’m now reading the books and i’m on year 3 chapter 4 so i have a long way to go to finish it, but no one ever say to do something with those books, i began reading the franchise and i don’t want to deal with the crap to jk to me! like i said i’m harry potter for life, harry potter forever, no one deals with what’s going on with this franchise and gets away with it, you involved with me, well i dare you try, i’m not break down the way you broke jk, jk i’m with you all the way, dean-harry potter folklore i’m with all the way, we will never go down, never give up, let’s show them what we’re made of, me, dean and jk let’s fight, you mess with us, bring it on!
