Ignoring the big blue sign in the lift at 3:43 that says "this lift does NOT go to the ground floor" and wondering why nothing happened...

I can make a U key and V key but would need the precise measurements otherwise it might not fit.
I did once make a 5 mm square British Rail railway carriage key when I was volunteering at a steam railway, but it took ages getting it to the right size to fit in the lock. These carriage keys can even be used on modern trains like the 125 HST, DMUs and EMUs as well as old steam train carriages.

ELPaso1990TX Thanks for your offer. I am not quite sure which route to go down at the moment. If a brought a bit of either metal water pipe or plastic tube from ebay then cut it to shape, do you think that would be strong enough?
With the train key, I have thought about seeing if I could get one, but wouldn't I get into a lot of trouble trying it out? Don't railways take that sort of thing very seriously?

How lovely to see the original lift car and buttons quite rare now , and to hear that "clunk" from the break when the lift stops a distinctive thing of Marryat lifts . I still have my FG1 car preference key from the 70's some ware about.

3:50 Weird modernization. They put Dewhurst US81 buttons where the old floor buttons were, and left the old button square.

Looking at how the controller is placed ,it suggests it may have been a star 8 lift that Marryats were quite successful at in the 70's.

It's rather amazed the motor room was left unlocked, and especially since the U key was in there. That's cool with the old circuit boards left up there.

I like the sound of the motor in that second lift you went in.

Noticed the 'Bruce Willis' hatch at 1:55. You don't see many of them on lifts nowadays which I think is bad because if the lift breaks down and the alarm is broken then there is no escape.

+stampycatfan01 I'm too big and fat now to climb all them stairs to get to Master Emerald(thanks to Big Red Button GRRR) so I gave Evans Lift Alliance a call, big mistake and that's how I ended up here!

Knuckles the Echidna Hmmm...I'm gonna be thinking of a way to protect the Master Emerald from jerks that steal stuff like Eggman (also called Dr. Robotnik...) overnight, so then once we implement the necessary security measures, we can all live in peace and quiet. I'm currently working on getting a plush version of you either on the internet (like eBay, Amazon, or Google) or at the store.

You can just learn blender and make a 3D-model of the keys. Then 3D print them via Shapeways.com or if you have acess to a 3D printer just print them in plastic. I think that would work.

    U key from here:

    doorentrydirect.com/srs-fs2-ss-fire-brigade-housing-with-switch-and-crescent-key-surface
Quite pricey, but it would be worth it.

MagAlarms Thanks, I didn't realize that it is called a crescent key. I have had more luck searching for crescent key but they are either too small to latch the door, or are too long to fit in my pocket.

You talk TOO FAST. What does the U Key open?

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

+Maxsdiscos I actually talk slightly too slow. People on youtube have very short attention spans and I need to keep viewers interested by not having parts of the video that go on for too long.
The U key opens up the outer lift doors on lifts built before the 80s that don't use drop key. This is usually the smaller makes of lift. The U key goes through the lift door and flips up the latch to open the door.
