It may or may not work? Depending on the motherboard? Well... when does it work and when does it not work? With what motherboard does it work and with what motherboard does it not work? What is your motherboard in this video? What kind of cable are you using? Does it have to be connected to a Mac computer? Why was the video cut at 1:19? When do you let go of the buttons? Does this method work if the power button is present and functional?
I have 2 Galaxy S7 phones here. They are both SM-G930F, the global versions with Exynos 8890 chips, and they are both fully functional and factory reset. One is black and the other one is gold colored and comes with a different software version. On the black model, the charge indicator on the display appears as a circle with a lighting bolt symbol in the middle of it when you connect it to a wall charger or to a computer, and the phone is powered off. On the gold model, the charge indicator on the display appears as a silhouette of an Alkaline battery with a lighting bolt symbol in the middle, just like in your video at 1:15.
Neither one of them can be powered on using the described method. Holding the volume down button, inserting the cable and then pressing and holding down both buttons doesn't do anything but charge the phone. The charge indicator appears on the display as I continue to hold both buttons, and then the circle with the green juice and percent of charge appears, and then it times out and disappears and only the red LED charging indicator remains. I let go of the buttons and the animation appears again. I used the white USB charging cable that came with a 15 W original Samsung charger that I purchased separately.
I suspect, that this method is either a hoax or it may only work if the phone actually has a broken or a missing power button. So if anyone is actually reading this: be sure to come back to this video when you have a Galaxy S7 (or some related model, YMMV, etc.) with a broken or missing power button. I have 3 more Galaxy S7 that are opened up for service, and I could try removing the button on a good one and see what happens. But why go down that rabbit hole? The Internet is full of disinformation. Don't believe in everything you see and hear. If you have a broken or a missing power button on your phone, what do you think is the most logical and sensible thing to do? Find a workaround on TH-cam on how to power it on and live without the button? Or to repair the button? What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

@@teloiv_7 I am not surprised. He did say "it may or may not work". But I mean, what kind of science is that? It comes off as some sort of voodoo! Maybe it will work if you stand on your left leg and kiss your right elbow at the same time, while plugging in the cable? I have not tried that, but it may work. Here's what I think happened. I think this may have been an odd combination of a Mac computer, a micro-USB cable, an Android phone, a non-standard wiring of the USB-A port (it's not unusal for Apple not to follow standards) and the voltage and impedance levels from that computer may have been just right to trigger a service mode on the phone, as if it was connected to a Samsung Anyway box. So in other words, if you want to replicate this successfully, you would have to connect your phone to his computer or another one that's exactly the same. But it's easier and also cheaper to find a Samsung Anyway box. Even better than that, is to replace a broken power button.

I'm able to access the download mode, but then the volume buttons don't trigger anything afterwards! Is there a fix for this?

You have to keep pressing the volume down until you see the starting screen. But for some phones doing that just opens the battery charging symbol. Unplug it from the pc and keep pressing volume down and home button. It should boot. That's worked for me.

1st : Remove Charger cable on Phone
2nd : connect it on laptop or Tv (must Open tv/laptop)
3rd: phone Must need 20%+ battery
4th: Then try Hold Volume down and Up At Same time.
5th Then Plug Your Charger cable that connected on Tv or Laptop
