  • Gränna. I remember when I was just a small kid and my parents took us children for a holiday in the south of Sweden. We came this way and the ruins of the old Brahe castle high above the town shone in the sun. It was thrilling! Then we stopped at the square and explored the town for a while.
This small town has so much worth exploring. You can eat and sleep well, walk along the charming wooden houses and enjoy the scent of the handmade peppermint rock candy that has made Gränna well known. Swim in shimmering lakes, hike through magical forest and learn about the history.
You can ride the ferry to the island Visingsö in the middle of lake Vättern and explore its fascinating history.
After coffee I needed to buy provisions for the day, there are several big shops, COOP and ICA, i e.
Then I walked the paved road south, under the main highway and towards Kaxholmen. Leaving Gränna meant higher altitude, and the wind picked up. So much that I had to seek shelter in a farm shop called Ravelsmark. They gave me coffee and let me warm up. Really friendly peeps! I changed into warmer gear, and after I while I was ready to walk again. I got in contact with the church in Kaxholmen, and was promised to stay there for the night. Awesome!
The rest of the day was rather gloomy. I reached Kaxholmen in the evening and was greeted with coffee and biscuits! Talked to the peeps working there and then shower, dinner and sleep.
