- This arrangement is simply an homage to my dad, who passed away last week. Edelweiss was one of his favorite songs. It was written in 1959 by Rodgers and Hammerstein for the musical "The Sound of Music". Sorry, no sheet music or tab for this one. Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy it.

Edelweiss was one of my dad's favorite songs. He passed away last week, so this arrangement and performance is meant as an homage to him. Thanks for listening.
I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing this beautiful song!
Beautiful! Great homage to your dad. That's my mom's favorite song.
May your dad rest in peace. Admire your dedication to your dad.
I think one day I'll try this one myself. I don't play classical guitar but it'll be worth learning after hearing this.
This is a very beautiful homage to your father.
The music is full of feeling, strong and sober at the same time, and your interpretation is very moving.
Deepest sympathy from France.
Nice work, and condolences to you and the other family members.
my super favourite song too, very enchanting piece, riveting!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you very much!

Hi Larry. I just now happened across your Edelweiss video (March 2019). Nicely played.
Your mentioning your father's passing reminded me of how quickly time passes. I'm sure it seems to you that six years could not have possibly already passed since your father left you. The January 2013 calendar is clearly visible over your right shoulder.
My father passed in 1991, yet I still have memories of him as fresh as if I had seen him yesterday. The "missing and the memories" never end, but hopefully (as happened to me) the intense grief in the months following the loss of a loved one has faded. I guess that is one of the blessings of time... That is, the bad memories tend to get pushed to the back of our minds, while the "good stuff" remains clear.
You mentioned you don't have tabs available. I just learned this song in G rather than in the A (that you seem to play it in) from the tab a South Korean guy named Dong Hwan-Noh. He is actually quite an amazing guitarist. Although the native Asians often tend to play with absolutely no emotion on their faces (which I noticed on his youTube videos), the music coming out can be lovely.)
If you don't mind, I'll post a link to his site here (for people looking for good tab to this piece).
www.ndh.tw/online/
(I took a look at your own website and as far as i can tell nothing Mr. Dong offers would compete with you own offerings.)
Assuming you are still playing and learning (it would be a pity if you were not), you might even find some fresh material there yourself. Mr. Dong always has a youTube link to each song next to the song listing on his site, so you can always see/hear his arrangements before deciding if it might be right for you. (The videos also re-enforce the tab-learning.)
Anyway, I digress...
I actually just wanted to post to your video simply to let you know how much I appreciate your beautiful rendition of Edelweiss. You have created an enduring tribute to your father. I am quite certain he heard you.
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. Yes, time does help with loss.
I'd never heard of Dong Hwan-Noh or his arrangement of Edelweiss. He plays it nicely. You're actually incorrect about the key. I'm also playing it in G. What must have confused you is that I'm using dropped D tuning.
And yes, I am still playing and teaching! In fact, I just posted another great Rodgers & Hammerstein tune (Cockeyed Optimist) a few days ago. Here it is if you'd like to check it out: th-cam.com/video/e_00GQeGL3k/w-d-xo.html
Thanks again, Larry
Hey Larry, I am sure your dad is listening in heaven to this nice performance!!! Really wonderful!! Hug Sarah :-)

This one actually sounds really similar, it’s so hard to FIND! Thankyou
Thanks! It’s a good one.
Thanks, William! That little creature is actually a very tiny origami dog (one of my hobbies). I'm impressed that you noticed it at all, let alone tried to figure out what it is!
Larry
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I like it.
Really beautiful... I wish you would do a tutorial video.
Thanks J.D. I haven't made tutorials for anything yet, but I can see where it would be helpful. I'll put it on my "to do" list.
Larry
Thank you!
