I became a huge Sonic fan around mid 2019 when I finally managed to address my loneliness and all the negative effects that came around with it, and I grabbed Sonic Mania free for the PS4 in June that year. This is now one my favourite songs since its so peaceful and calming, reminds me of no matter how shitty things have turned since January 2020 I will always have a year of my life that I can fall back on when I am feeling sad. I did it before and could do it again.
Oh! Same, man. I just really looked Sonic become my favorite mascot of all time in that mid. Even with some doubtful games, your music touch me in a nostalgic and relaxing manner.

Listened to this on the subway in Tokyo and right at the climax of the synth solo the Shinkansen and the Tokyo Monorail passed our train out the window and I almost couldn’t believe how perfect it was
I once fell asleep to an extended mix of this track playing softly in the background and I awoke the next morning feeling like I had the best night of sleep I’ve had in a while. Definitely tempted to do so again considering how much of an insomniac I am.
Absolutely my favourite song and act in this incredible game. I love simple ways games tell a story, using things like music and background elements. Act 2 is set in an absolutely gorgeous snowy Japanese-style garden, surrounded by lavish sakura trees and lanterns. Bit by bit in the act, you can see Eggman's robots pecking away at it and his chippers employed to crush the wood down. The song is hauntingly beautiful, but a tad melancholic. The song starts with the beautiful Japanese flute, attacked sharply by the aggressive synth. No matter what though, the notes are long, carrying the melody from start to finish. Act 1 is where you can see the results of all the continuous damage Eggman is causing to the scenery in Act 2. He's using the destroyed lumber and more of his machines to do nothing but print propaganda on a mechanical line. In the background, you can see speeding lines of newspapers zooming past at an alarming rate, signalling just how much wildlife he continues to destroy for such a misguided purpose. You hear two short bars of flute at the start like Act 2, this time harshly interrupted by the noise of a printing press. The flute dissipates, and instead of any hints of elegance, the instrumentals are all sharp and metallic, with tons of syncopation. I just love the story it tells. You enter Press Garden 1 and discover it's another Eggman factory like Oil Ocean, Scrap Brain or Metropolis, but here, once you exit Act 1 and set foot into Act 2, you're immediately engulfed in the beauty he is tearing apart to run Act 1. Genius, love it every single time.
@@JimmysDonuts Just about everything in the game period is perfect. My only gripes are 1, Egg Reverie is not that great a finale, 2, the Special Stages are too easy, and 3, I just wish the game was longer.

You can even try to unlock everything like the Mean Bean Machine game or the new blue spheres mode with the purple and green spheres. There's more than that too but that's just from my experience. But you do you. I'm not one to gripe your gripes.
One of my favourite Sonic tracks ever easily, and I don't even rate Mania as high as other people. It's so magical. It's like a lost Sonic CD track from the best fucking zone ever.
Get people that hate and talk negative about Sega but one thing they can never speak negative of is that when it comes to creating a soundtrack, they get the best of the best to produce it and make memorable BGMs for their games. Tee Lopes, Yuzo Koshiro, Olivier Deriviere, and Motohiro Kawashima to name a few are f***ing musical geniuses.
A few more to add is "Koji Kondo" (Mario and Zelda BGM), "Yoko Shimimura" (Street fighter 2, Kingdom hearts), "David Wise" (Donkey Kong), and of Course "Masato Nakamura" (Sonic 1 and 2).
if you think about it nobodys got any idea were press garden is we know studiopolis is in west island because of chemical plant but nobody knows if flying battery flew past or in west island and since we go to stardust speedway via phantom ruby nobody has ever confirmed were press garden is maybe its sonic 2’s wood zone in winter? maybe its on a completely different island? who knows
Freedom Planet was definitely inspired by Sonic, but this level really feels like it's vice versa. A lot of Press Garden looks like stages such as Jade Creek and Pangu Lagoon from Freedom Planet.
NGL this is literally Sonic Mania met Shinobi if Sega were able to make another Shinobi game with this type of music and the element of this specific music that brings it all together

What I love most about this act; is the entire thing is basically a love letter to Shinobi.
