Dual 0-CTRL Sequencing

  • Let’s try a little dual 0-CTRL sequencing! Since the 0-CTRL is highly oriented around the possibilities of self-patching, it could be fun to extend some of the self-patching ideas to two 0-CTRLs working together. Self-other patching? Or better yet, friend patching!!

      You would probably need to supplement them with some utility modules, in particular a sequential switch would be useful for automatically switching from one sequencer to the next when it reached a certain step.

      Hi! As far as I know, harverstergames suggestion would result in a 14 steps sequence, not 16@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC , because the if used as a trigger to > reset, le 8th note won't play, would you mind sharing detail about how to manage the sequential switch ? thank you !

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You would patch one Step Gate output to trigger the switch, with two rows of the 0-CTRL patched to the switch’s inputs. You would not use the reset input.

      @@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Hey!, Using a sequential switch helped me to achieve a flawless 16 steps, now, does anyone could recommend the simplest flow to combine the 2 CV note output into one ? then going to a sound module., my way is using sequential module again, be it come to a very complexe patch.

    External clocking doesn't get the love it deserves in most 0-CTRL videos on TH-cam. One of my favourite "friends" patches for the 0-CTRL is clocking with an LFO that does PWM or can distort waveforms in some way. Feed the PWM input a drizzle of random voltage and the sequenced notes will get bumped around slightly but the overall tempo will be rock solid.

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC

    Sequencing sequencers is something I was thinking about after reading about Suzanne Ciani’s techniques. I had been thinking about it a while back but was waiting on the Tiptop Buchla sequencer. I had even bought the SQ-1 and a 0-CTRL while I was waiting for the Buchla modules to come out. One idea I want to try is control the speed using the cv output of the other, or control the speed of an LFO and send that to cycle through the steps in a pattern at different rates.

    One of my favorite sequence patches is using a sequencer to address location of another sequencer (so like 0-Ctrl clocked addressing Rene locations). It works with the gates n' glides so you can sort of select those features dynamically with the 0-Ctrl. Or even also use 0-Ctrl pressure or gates to sequence or step thru or move thru one of the other axes... (plan a weekend around this patch :) )

  • @LukeLendrum
    @LukeLendrum ปีที่แล้ว

    My favourite thing to do with 2 sequencers I call sequence-stacking where you program an A sequence which is offset by a B sequence.
    So a really basic version of this would be say an 8 note sequence of eighth notes being offset by a 4 note sequence of whole notes... giving you a four bar progression... with a scale quantizer you can basically transpose a sequence through a chord progression.
    Another fun way to utilise this is to have the A sequence be a odd number sequence of random tonics, fifths and octaves and have that play against your standard acid sequence. This gives your acid line a lot more variety without it getting harmonically too far away from your original sequence. The odd number sequence gives a much further away lowest common denominator before the sequence repeats.

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great ideas! Tuning two different length sequences harmonically like this can also lead to great results when ring modulating the two VCOs together, as Allen Strange demonstrated.
