I didn't move to Rio, my wife and I moved to the Philippines. We live in a small town in the tropical mountains and we're having a beautiful baby girl in a month and a half from now. A week ago she went to her mother's after getting mad at me. She hasn't come back yet. Since then I've felt more lonely than ever. Even more so than when I was homeless a few years ago in my home country. Not only do I not speak the language, but people here view me mostly as a curiosity since most of them haven't seen a white man in real life before, which exasperates the loneliness when I buy groceries or go out for a walk. Right now I'm sitting in my backyard listening to this mix, which has been my go to for the past three years. It's not yet raining, but I can see the lightning storm coming closer from the east. As depressed I am over her not sharing our home with me at this moment, I can still remember how much better life is than it was three years ago. And that after everytime I've felt down and come here, things have turned back towards the better again after a while. My wife will come back to me so that we can share this home that we have built for our daughter in this beautiful country.
It's raining right now and I can't see outside, but this is the most relaxed I've been. I've picked up my homework after a whole week of not doing it, and I feel productive for the first time. Rain is comforting enough that I can start catching up, mega cool.
