The voyeur quality of this show is so unique. A lot of the scenes are shot looking through a window or across the street & it gives it this suspended realism effect that is hard to explain. Very unique
5:52 In the second episode the drive back from the bar is the best example of this. In the scene Benny's character (Dougie) is on a date. The two are in the middle of a conversation and it seems uncomfortable. We learn Dougie is talking about an accident where he drove drunk and his ex died. When we see him show her photo to his date they even look alike. She asks if he would ever drive over the limit and he says so. He ends up convincing her to drive home with him even though he seems drunk. During the ride he seems completely out of it and asks his date to open the glove box and hand him what's inside. It's a breathalyzer. He tries it twice and fails. Now keep in mind this whole time we have looooong shots of his date talking about nothing and getting no response back. I was expecting the same accident to happen again. But what instead happens is he pulls over and admits he must walk the rest of the way. As him and his date are walking away he sees a truck pass and makes the gesture to honk the horn. The trucker doesn't. So many ways our expectations are dashed in one scene. It goes on so long but nothing really happens the way we expect. Really clever writing and even though it feels like a throwaway moment I feel like it helps keep the audience unsettled and unsure of what's to come. Incredible show.
I love/hate the show...that uncomfortable tension doesn't usually appeal to me, but in the curse it's like a fun house mirror that accidentally reflects the truth: life is uncomfortable, people lie (in ways big and small) and the real, true emotions that run everything and everyone are verboten... so much pretending, just like irl :)
i love the reality, this is how people talk often... I guess I talk like a comedy writer and write like one too... Jon is flat real on his face and does it well. reality goes a long way in comedy and this podcast/show whatever it is is the new Real time with Bill maher without the old man elitists opinions.
When I heard the comment that in order to coddle the soft, weak gay kids at camp they gave the one kid most improved colon nature, I wondered what metric they used and who actually measured the kids colon nature. I smiled. I worried. I wondered. THEN I figured out it was MY mind.
I’m both fixated by the show and unclear if I like it or not as of Episode 9. I watch it with intent and feel that everything can be a clue. But, I don’t know if this point if it’ll pay off. We shall see :)
I super love this show, I've never seen anything like it nor had a show or whatever make me feel this way. I feel like I get what they're saying for the most part and the symbolism is so cool! I wanna know more like why were certain lines scripted to have a homophones in it, where sometimes even the subtitles were off, intentional or not? I have so many questions.
This fucking show makes me cringe harder than I ever have but in the best way possible. It reminds me of the Scott's Tots episode of the office, only that one I had to turn off, this one I keep coming back for more. It's like of fucked up weird version of a thriller. I've never seen anything like it.
Then make chairs smaller and closer to the ground so short people are comfortable. ❤ instead of bullying shorter people for trying to be comfortable, accommodate them.
If you don't like what you've been watching it doesn't really change in tone / style. Things just ramp up, more stressful, more awkward. I love it but it's not for everyone.
What he calls tension I call cringe, I couldn't get into it. I get that it's intentional, but then I can't stand the characters. I couldn't get through the pilot for the show.
There's a few shows I couldn't get into. One, I did an entire season, but it was too weird. One, I couldn't do a full episode. I wasted so much time watching an entire series with a main character that was utter trash. It's a more recent one. Mind you, I'm fairly certain I watched all of the original Roseanne, which to me had decent characters, even if I don't love her. So many shows are just too boring or weird. I'd rather do another watch through of NCIS. I remember every plot, but at least it's good to me. Frankly, stop giving actors who have the same acting chops as soap actors tv shows. It's a waste. I loved watching soaps as a teen. I know some of the actors are decent, but many are not. Ron Moss was a wonderful example of this. He was Ridge Forrester on The Bold and The Beautiful forever. He's a horrible actor, but damn it, he's Ridge.
When I thought it was a dark comedy about social media couples, I was in. Then I heard it’s a drama? No thanks. I can’t take social media couples seriously. 😅. I also HATE reality TV. It’s so boring. That’s why I loved Nathan for You so much.
Show of the year. Nothing else like it. Absolutely spellbinding and hilarious.
Best finale in a long time. Loved this show, the performances were amazing and so real.
Nathan fielder is gold

Dude this is the wildest interview. Safdie is just sharing his perspective wide open. 🙏

Incredible show.
This show is on a different level but it’s so hard to explain why
I am obsessed with this show. Cannot wait to see how it ends...

What a doozy

Yes! Every episode makes me think and feel.
😊😊
What show is this?
Never heard of it and I want to watch it now.
@kendomyers The Curse. It's on showtime...very good
Every scene in this show makes me uncomfortable lol. It's like they combined the cringe of Nathan For You with the stress of a Safdie film.
Benny Safdie thinks like how you feel you think when you're on a really good high.
lots of ppl reacting negatively to this show. My favorite show of the year.
It just gets better & better!
Well my goodness
Much love 💕
Please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP
PLEASE BRING IT FORWARD PLEASE
