Some of them came as traders from Nigeria and pleaded to be given lands in various regions to settle on. Some of them were brought as slaves by the British too. The hausas are now scattered all over Ghana and u would find them in almost every village and in every region in Ghana. They do not have their own region in Ghana. I have half of my family in Shukura including my grandmother so that makes me a typical Zongo dude. Aside northerners, we have a lot of Ewe’s and Fantis in Nima, in Shukura we have a lot Ga’s, Asantis and Kwahus and few Ewes so growing up I have friends from different tribes I speak Hausa, Twi and Ga. Remember, the way of Satan is to INVITE people to sinful life style, after you accept, LATER, down the road, he desires to PUNISH you for being in violation there of, he will test you, to see if God may intervene, then he acts accordingly... this is going on all over the Muslim world! Initially, there is some FUN in sinful life but it doesn't last that long at all! something ALWAYS goes wrong and once it start's it's difficult to STOP!.....

I think Americans especially have a false perception of Muslims in general. My husband was born in Ghana and tells me how Christians and Muslims God alone and could be just as the sister is saying friends and staying together. My pastor is from ivory coast and also has very close Muslim Friends. Myself I have experienced Muslims in my workplace and also outside of my workplace through my husband we are both Christian but get along quite nicely with Muslims. When he came to the United States it was a Muslim who took him to and from work and helped him get on his feet here when his own country brothers did not help unless he gave them a lot of money. The Muslim man would not take any money and when out of his way to pick up my husband for work and drop him off after work and also make sure he got to the store to get the things he needed. This is the story my husband tells me and from my experience my Muslim coworkers have always been extremely nice to me! There are good and bad in every community and every religion it is about time that we as human beings treat one another with respect and dignity and love one another helping build each other up and together helping each other win the race of life. Thank you for this video I really enjoyed it you ladies are so beautiful!!!!!!

Ur interviewee doesn't seem to know the history of Zango. Originally, it was a place where Nigerians ie. Hausa and Yoruba settle in Ghana. It wasn't originally a place for Ghanaians. Over time Ghanaians from northern Ghana started moving there to mingle with those Nigerians to the point where some of those Ghanaians from the north of Ghana having lost their identity, now think they're Hausa. The word Zango is not a Ghanaian word. It's a Nigerian Hausa word. Most of the cuisines in the community are from Nigeria. Will tell U more if need be.

Nima is a Zongo residential town in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The town is popular because of its market - the Nima market. The name Nima has its etymology from the Ga Language which literally means the "city of the King". Nii means King in the Ga language, while the word city in the same language is mann.
