My closet did the same thing in my first apartment. I learned those white shelves suck for when you have a lot of clothes! From that point on if I walked in for apartment tour and saw those skinny white shelves I kept it moving!!!

That happened to me years ago in 2 closets, the shelving units were not in the proper studs. Glad u were not hurt, I tried to brace the shelf fall with my arm and sustained a muscle tear
