MDT 40Ton Plymouth Critter/Switcher

  • A short clip of the Museum's Plymouth MDT 40Ton switcher. This is was donated to the museum by HRK Holdings. HRK assumed control over the old Piney Point Plant in northern Manatee county. This engine was on the grounds and was not needed by HRK. the interesting thing about this locomotive is, It was bought new by Borden Chem (the previous owner of Piney Point) and since it was delivered to them in the 60's. It has NEVER left Manatee County. So it's local history for the museum is great. When we received the engine, all we did was flush the fuel and installed new fuel filters and boom she ran.

    We want to fully restore it. It is the most local piece we own. It was delivered to a company in Manatee County and has never left the county and we too are in Manatee county.

      well they had to ferry it from plymouth, ohio.....so you know it was run in ohio even if just to load it up....

    Tat's one nice engine you guys got. Are you guys going to be doing more work on it like windows, lights, ect?

      its best to leave it alone unless you have vintage photos to work from.
