Very nice retrospective narration. However, the country was known as Ivory Coast before being named Cote’d Voire. Now, I am a Yoruba man but I have always supported the cause of Biafra purely because any rational person would know that the coup led by Nzeogwu was not the fault of all Ibos. So, why the massacre of innocent Easterners in the north.

Biafra only had 4% the ammunition of the Nigerian military and still persevered and dealt heavy damage to the Nigerian Federal troops being heavily supplied by the UK, USSR and even had to pay Egyptians to fly their aircrafts for them cuz they lacked the competence to fly them, keep in mind the UK and USSR were on two opposing sides during the Cold war they united against Biafra, to the point they had to resort to starvation of innocent children by imposing blockade and even poisoning of relief supplies being sent to Biafra to quell the vigorous Biafrans using underhanded tactics regarded as war crimes

Remember that a lot of things were kept secret because Nigeria was heavily on colonial template and control of England. Biafra was seen by Colonial powers as an antithesis to the colonial outpost. There's more to that, but I digress to the present day.

Dr Nyerere let me tell u. ur sentiment like ur colleagues is what has driven African continent to the last back ground where u 're busy celebrating evil in place of good. . Both U. From Tanzania , this was a bad decision by Nyerere , a man who was supposed to speak for Africa Unity and a supposedly Pan-Africanist ,he was catholic probably he was driven to do something for his fellow Catholics in Igbo Land

You can only units with those who shears the same mindset with you. If you understand the way we live in Nigeria, then you won't even say what you're saying now.

I am a Tanzanian , i grew up during Nyerere tenure , what i am saying he was not supposed to take sides , he should have encouraged dialogue , you do not have to tell me Nigeria is the most complex country to govern in Africa , The Biafrans had a case but it was not up to him say anything, it was an internal Nigerian matter, if theres anybody to blame it is the British, because they continued to support the federal government of Nigeria in order to protect their OIL investment, and so many innocent lives were lost and they didnt care

Unity only makes sense when there is something to unite the people not when people are lumped together by whites, you people condemn colonialism but openly worship it's leftover institutions

@@UnitedAfrica-uw9ct The idea of uniting Africa is welcomed but at the moment, it’s unrealistic, a mirage, and a simplistic way of looking at a complex problem. Many jump on that bandwagon without proper research. You cannot just wake up and unite vastly different peoples of which many don’t even know who they are. Africa is already dealing with forced unity via colonization. Crucial decisions need to be made (prerequisites) before even thinking of a united Africa.

@@chinochino1300 I Agree with you completely , it is a long term project , many people who say Africa should Unite now , have no idea how huge and diverse Africa is ! , to unite you need institutions that work and you need people who know who they are in Africa AND the World.

Kenneth Kaunda was a hypocrite. In Zambia he nullified and unilaterally abrogated the Barotseland Agreement of May 18, 1964 the agreement between Barotseland and Northern Rhodesia. That agreement paved the way for Zambia's independence on Saturday, October 24, 1964! In 1969 Kenneth Kaunda said "we can't have a nation within a nation" refering to Barotseland. So he was hypocritical in recognising Biafra and denying Barotseland her own statehood and nationhood.
