Today I decided to get a hair wash on my relaxed hair at a local head spa. Everyone was a bit nervous because it was their first time having a foreigner as a client. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant first-time experience as everyone was gentle and kind. I hope you'll enjoy this video 💕✨
I was in the Northern part of China for a while & would get these spa offers as they were mostly genuinely curious about my 4C type of hair, skin tone. Since I came back I have never had a massage close to what I was getting from even a local salon there. They are gifted differently as they have patience, apply ancient knowledge & are thorough.
Facts. The service is always such a treat and overall a pleasant experience

Hello everyone. I keep seeing the questions & comments around the gloves and I just want to clarify that this particular spa uses gloves on EVERYONE. It’s their policy regardless of whether you’re Chinese or not and I know this for a fact.
While I’ve seen videos of some spas in other parts of Asia that don’t wear them, I haven’t explored outside of this particular spa so I can’t say. But I can definitely tell you this one uses gloves on everyone. A few people under the comments here also linked ASMR videos of Asian people getting hair washes by other Asian people and they have gloves on.
I understand the concern because I’m a black woman, however there is nothing beyond this. I’m still new in this community and haven’t explored a lot of spas in China to come to any conclusion. My city is also relatively small so I’ve only explored one spa. I hope this clarifies all the concerns ❤️

If I did that for a living I would wear gloves too. she’s smart for wearing gloves. I’m black and I wouldn’t be offended at all. People be having sores and whatever else in their heads.Ma’am keeping wearing your gloves F what these other weirdos talking about .
@@usgarner5621 Exactly! If nothing else, she's stopping her hands from becoming dry and damaged from all those shampoos. If she really had an issue she would've simply said no like other Asian's who have turned Black people away because they didn't know how or they simply didn't want to deal with textured hair. This lady wouldn't have suffered any repercussions for turning her away in *her* country, unlike in America. Some people want to be offended even when no offense has been made.

Not sure if you live in or near a major city, but you just have to Google different salons until you find them. I didn’t have much luck finding one in Austin, TX, but I think Houston and Dallas have 1 or 2 each. I’m in Seattle now and I’ve been to one, back late December. I hope to find 1 or 2 more after I get a bit more settled here.

The head massage looks very relaxing 🥰 hopefully this can be an addition to their hair wash training….because she scrubbed a very long time on damp hair without adding enough shampoo to give that extra foam effect and extra water….They are so timid when touching ethnic hair but practice most definitely makes perfect!

Yes, her technique is adorable however I wouldn’t have told her to scratch again. Not only is it rude but the service calls for certain steps. At the beginning you were scratching before she even began, you might need a different service. They have a different service that’s a bit more intensive for scalp itching and dryness.
This is so relaxing to see. I’ve always wondered if they would be comfortable doing a persons head with a curlier/kinkier texture.
I do have to add I saw some comment that they’ve never seen gloves used before…I’ve seen it about a dozen times on YT. It’s not super common but I’ve seen it for sure.

I went to a Korean day spa called king spa, and they do a great job washing my hair. They combed and shampooed my hair with no problems. They don’t have this washable, but it’s a traditional spot and I had a great time.
I love king spa. I’ll have to try the head spa!

Great video very relaxing. I got a few comments on this. Why is she wearing gloves? Is the tech scared of different type of hair? She knows how to speak their language and she told the tech to scrub more and as you can see there's not a lot of lather so did her get cleaned? I'm glad that she states a good experience but it makes you go hummm?
Thank you for watching & for sharing I appreciate ✨ After questions around this I’ve checked out some videos with clients with diff races and it looks like it is something that they do, although not on every video on TH-cam one can find. It seems it depends on the place you go to. The gloves are a thin soft material so much that you can barely feel them. There were moments where I had to guide her bcos she had never handled my type of hair before - so she wasn’t always as “rough” as i want cos she was afraid she’d hurt me. she kept asking “is it okay like this? Is it painful?” It was a new experience for both of us & that’s why I was happy with the overall experience. There’s absolutely room for improvement, always.
We’re prone to dermatitis from constant exposer to soapy water/ hair products. The dermatitis can be so painful and difficult to treat (steroid cream doesn’t do much but sub-side for the duration of usage), so the only option is gloves every time our hands get wet.
There are several reasons for the gloves. For example: better grip when holding the tools used for massaging, better for your hands because of the constant massaging & water- your hands will hurt after a while (it'll feel like blisters), & also for sanitation purposes (you'd be surprised how many people have contagious diseases/infections on their heads). Also, lots of lather in a shampoo doesn't mean that the hair is necessarily clean- there are shampoos that don't lather as much or are latherless. Not saying any of what I said is the case here. Just letting you know from a cosmetologist's perspective.

Shes using gloves because washing hair all day long can cause skin irritation.

Thank you! 💕 yes any hair type can get the treatment. In my experience I was met with kindness and of course there is some nervousness mostly on their end but with more exposure to our hair types, the better it’ll be :)
