- In this lecture Reinforced Concrete Slab (RCC) Design with Strip Based Method and Finite Element Method (FEM) is shown in detail.
Note when you provide minimum slab thickness as per ACI Code, then you may need not to check for deflections (SLAB DESIGN AS PER ACI 318 code)
RCC SLAB DESIGN PROCEDURE in CSI ETABS
1) - Click the Design menu )) Concrete Slab Design )) Start Design command to run the concrete slab design (this command performs both flexural design and punching checks).
2) - Review the concrete slab design results by clicking the Design menu )) Concrete Slab Design )) Display Flexural Design command.
3) - To check and review punching shear in a slab, click the Design menu )) Concrete Slab Design )) Display Punching Check command.
4) - If necessary after reviewing design results, revise the slab geometry or reinforcing and re-run the analysis/design.

Very thankful to you for such a nice video series on Etab. YOu are doing great job.
very useful lecture, thanks
I have a problem with my etabs 18 version. Under the design toolbar when I click the concrete frame design the rebar selection rules for column and beam are missing. What to do?
MASHALLAH
Thanks
The steel areas shown in layers in "Strip Based design" has to be practically provided parallel to the strip direction or it has to be provided perpendicular to the strip direction??
My model show " Shear Failure" alert in it's slab output table. Should I ignore this? Btw, I'm using beam slab structure. Please advice. Thank You
Sir can we model interlocking brick wall in etabs??
Very interesting Lecture Sir
So nice of you
JAZAKALLAH
Sir how to design slabs of staircase in etabs or in safe?plz reply I am confused
Can this method be used while designing with is code 456
Engr. Have you try to compare slab design in etabs vs Safe?
Because i get confused why they have different outcome for rebars.
SAFE gives more rebars than ETABS.
Any idea? Thank you
Dear they will give same results.
You have to take care..
Modifiers...
Steel strength
Concrete strength etc...
And for comparison use FEM method.
How can we check punching shear ratio value in this design
When I check.... N/C is come means it's not calculated please give me reply. What's should I do?
sir in flexural designing .. we need purple color to satify.. why you choose dark blue color? plz guide me
When required reinforcement.... Are provided....
Then automatically... Blue color appears....
Which indicates that provided reinforcement is OKAY.
@@civilmdc ok sir
Do you make separate model for beam design?
I have seen that while using shell elements for slab, beams behave as T & L. But the extent of T and L width is not defined. Therefore, the beff goes as much as half of slab span in many cases. Which shows almost half reinforcement compared to using membrane as slabs.
To overcome this, how do you design beam reinforcement?
Try to define grid system as slab with beams
I have an doubt. How to check manually, after Etab design& analysis results
Make a Slab and get the maximum moments in both directions....Manually
And compare the results with ETABS
@@civilmdc Thanks for rply....Sir, How can i find out axial load ,bi axial load uni axial, after getting column design results @Etab?
@@ezhilarasan3776 Go to display tables...
Select column forces results
What is the name of this book from which you are referring to the chapter 10 Dynamics. Could you please attach the link to this book so that its easy to download. BIG FAN of your work. KEEP it up :)

Plz make a video on Earthquake load as per ASCE 7-16...
Dear I have noted...
sir what the mean of strip design for slab..
Is is Slab deign method.....
Just like DDM Method.. And yield line methods.
When analysis is done...I am not able to get the options of Design the slab...They are not enabled...How to resolve this
I think the issue is with installation and Activation of your software
@@civilmdc The frame design is perfectly Run
@@alugojuvineeth6719 then check... Did you assign diaphragm?
And are you using strip method?
Try above these
Hello, how did your resolve this issue?
Ok
