This was very informative!! I’ve been car tinting on the side since I was 18. I want to open my own business when I retire from working for corporate America. I can’t thank you enough for the sauce you given us.
I'm in the process of starting my own shop. Iv almost mastered my tinting. I use a torch though and prefer bottom loading but can half and half. I'm excited.
Nice shop, good how you showed ways to save money starting your own shop. With your heat guns, use a cut down film core zip tied to the cord just above the plug with a notch in the top to create a holster for them. Looks better again, saves your guns, adds to safety, winning all around & costs 20c!
Thank you! My probably is, is finding a place in my area with a garage. And should I rent the space or buy? Also whats a average rent for a space if I do rent.
I can tell you had a deep bag 💰 and good influence to start, and you aiming to charge high,I rather be known for best prices that will bring more customers than the little things word of mouth is great advertising, the #1 thing that scares away a customer is high prices. fancy stuff in the shop won't get them to stay
Awesome video man, I really need to get into that business I worked hard for past year to save up some cash to start this business 40k save up. I live in metro DC area (DC,Maryland & Virginia ) very booming area the demand is very high. Trust me i don’t wanna start very fancy Shop like you said. I'm struggling to find a location Right now. I hear that there a lot types of films.
I have a 4 car garage with an office built next to it! If you’re still interested i’d love to show you. Its about 30 mins from dc in brandywine, MD. Hmu! I haven’t done my grand opening yet💪🏼
Great video, very informative. I know pricing has changed, but I don’t think you can get a Graphtec for $3000 now. The cheapest I've found is near $10,000. I started my shop using a GCC plotter, its the chinese version but it was a lot cheaper. Use it to make some money so one day you can get the graphtec.
Thanks for sharing your experience! It's true that prices can fluctuate significantly, and it's always good to explore different options when starting out.
Hi. I was wondering how thick the glass is on your wall mounted peel board? And your able to hang that heavy of a piece of glass with metal mirror clips? Thanx
Good video I like the setup you have. We have heat lamps too and it's paid for itself 100x over. We are looking for a new building to move into because our current location is going to be a tear down soon from the property owners. (100yr old building)
Very informative, also how fast does those horse-stall mats dry up after getting wet. Do you not need drains for a window tinting shop business? Thank you for the great video
Thank you for watching. We send out free stickers with every online order and also offer custom decals on our website. Here is the link www.thetintstitute.com/shopping-cart/Custom-Vehicle-Door-Decals-set-of-2-p281497445 If you'd like you can request the decals to be the Tintstitute logo rather than your own. We use a high-quality air release vinyl for these decals!
Great video. I am considering adding window tint service to my detail business once i have secured shop space and want to know your opinion what type of tint should i start with a ceramic or something else to offer and then grow organically?
Hi, great video! I run a tint shop in Atlanta, GA. We've been shopping around trying to find a POS system that works for us. Do you have any recommendations?
What company did you use to order your plotter? Curious about how you got one for 3000$ when i look at Graphtec plotters im seeing them for 10,000$ USD from third party vendors with no software or material even coming with it. Did you deal with Llumar direct, or did you use a third party vendor who sells their products?
I could be mistaken, but I believe we got ours at Fellers. That's where we get all our vinyl wrap supplies, etc. as well as our printers/plotters for our wrap department.
The Graphtec is great for window film, we have a separate plotter for vinyl graphics. If you will mainly be cutting window film I recommend the graphtec. Thank you for watching!
Hi Jesse, thank you for watching. There are a lot of factors when looking for a location; ie foot traffic, proximity to competitors, feasibility of space, price per sq ft etc. If you are looking at different location possibilities for your business and need assistance we do offer 1 on 1 consulting!
HeyYC, hard work and dedication my friend. It didn't come easy, but if you're willing to put in the sweat, you'll see the results! We have business coaching and consulting on thetintstitute.com if you're ready. Stay golden!
Hi Jor, thank you for watching. There are specific things that qualify whether a location will be a good fit for this type of business. If you know what you're looking for you can narrow it down pretty quickly. If you'd like to discuss further please let us know, we offer 1 on 1 consulting and would be happy to Anwser any business questions you have! www.thetintstitute.com/shopping-cart/Business-Consulting-p281497453
Hi Edgar, you should start with a business license, which you would get locally. As you grow and add residential/commercial tinting you will want to look into getting a contractors license. We have actually just opened a new shop and are doing a case study on it. We will be showing every step of the process. Please subscribe so you get notified when we post those videos.
Thank you for watching unfortunately we do not have one currently for sale. I would check with your film supplier and see if they have any package deals.
Awesome video, thank you! I live in a town of about 25,000 people and we only have one window tinting place in town. I called to make an appointment and they were booked 3 months out! That’s when a light bulb clicked in my head to start my own business. The demand is definitely there and the supply is very low. I haven’t taken any steps forward yet. I’m doing my research first. I’m really enjoying your videos so far. Very informative. One question I have so far is when you buy the plotter, does it come with the software to cut the film to which car you have? Or do you have to purchase that as well?
Hi Stephan thank you for watching. The plotter does come with cutting software. It sounds like you have a great opportunity ahead. Please let us know if we can help you in any way!
We use Llumar exclusively for window film. Please email us at media@thetintstitute.com or give us a call at 805-741-5751 and we can discuss setting you up with an account. thank you!

@@thetintstitute Nice! Also, I posted another comment on this vid. You might have missed it. I've recently taken over management of a TintShop in ATL. It's been around for 20 years and they're still using antiquated systems for work orders, inventory, scheduling, etc. I'm wondering if you've done a video with recommendations for handling the back office portion of the business. We've been looking at several POS systems(ShopMonkey, Clover, ShopBoss, Quickbooks) but still haven't decided on what the best option is for us. Any thoughts?
The title says about tint shop but he talks about the renovation of the shop like we own it😂. Not everyone gonna start with a big ass building so therefore just mention important stuff like the equipment that’s needed not the renovation bullshit 😂
Make sure you're not a clown that tries to upsell and charge $500 to 850.00 to do a car because the dude down the street will do it for 275.00 and it's truly not rocket science....nice clean cuts, no bubbles and good product....
I appreciate your time. Where you get the plotter from I really like it and like the price too
Thank you
We bought our graphtec from LLumar. It’s been great to us. Thanks for watching.
Soon I will be taking some tint courses and will start mobile. But having a shop one day is my goal. Watching this video has helped alot .
