      Malcolm toyed with joining the ALP after his strong advocacy for the Australian Republic failed and it was, largely, supported by Labor politicians. My recollection is that Kim Beazley kindly pointed out to Malcolm that his views on trade unions would make the prospect a non-starter. Beazley was right. Malcolm was a classic "wet" or a Hewson-type liberal - that wing is a minority of the party and they have not had much success as leaders.

    While, I like Howard, the gun buy back was a complete waste of tax payers money. Gun crime in Australia had been steadily declining since the 90s and we already had one of the lowest gun crime rates in the word. He just targeted the low hanging fruit being the law abiding gun owners. It did nothing to solve the problem of illegal weapons being bought into the country through porous borders by organized crime. Gun ownership has tripled since then. If you research the subject you will find it was a massive smoke screen to try and disarm the population.

    All politicians has to do is get out and talk to Australians, lission then govern for all Australians not just the loud minority. You don't have to control everything. You cannot lecture to people telling them want in good for them. Stop government misinformation. You cannot use legislation to control misinformation. Get out their and tear it apart with facts. Debate what is true.but most of all individual freedom and respect for all is at the heart of Australia. Not central control in Canberra,it is only where honest debates on polices that effects how lifestyles. All polices should be about best way to do things in Australia for Australians. That is not blindly following what is done overseas. Europe isn't a good example to follow. We have politicians who seem to blindly be followers. They don't seem to have a mind of their own able to think for themselves. Australia is totally different to a lot of countries and needs different ways of doing things. Land mass distribution of population. Distance between cities and towns. Like NBN and Power. Electric vehicles. Distance and population spread following what has worked in other countries will not work in Australia. We have to come up with environmental solutions that give the best outcomes for Australia 🇦🇺.

      @Gokizzmass highest interest rates in Australian history were when Howard was treasurer in the Fraser government. Ring a bell ? 20% and capped? 🥱

      @Gokizzmass the inconvenient truth
      The 1982 wages explosion-wages rose 16 per cent across the country-resulted in stagflation; unemployment touched double-digits and inflation peaked at 12.5% (official interest rates peaked at 21%). The Fraser government with Howard as Treasurer lost the 1983 election to the Labor Party led by Bob Hawke.

    In 11 years, Howard enacted gun reforms, led the highest-taxing administration in Australia’s history, and committed the country to a 20-year war that ultimately ended in defeat for us and our allies. If that constitutes Hadley’s mark of excellence, it reflects poorly on Bouris as an interviewer. He failed to have these 'facts and figures on hand' that Hadley suggests is needed for serious people, missing the opportunity to challenge Hadley on them.

      I think the failure is not the war contribution but the lack of our strength in our own military and over dependence on pretty much everything for sustainability as country , no maritime ships , oil dependence , military dependence , etc etc. we arenonenof the richest resource countries in the world why are we so dependent

      @@LCD2557 Howard committed us to a war based on a lie. UN weapon's inspectors found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Iraq did have them at one stage because the US gave them the Saddam Hussein and used them in their war with Iran. The mess we see in the Middle East today is in large part due to the Gulf War. The CIA is also behind a lot of the destablisation of Middle East govs in order to help Israel.

    I am not a great fan of you Ray, however your comments regarding Turnbull and Albanese(who cannot debate) are on the right TRACK but far too gentle....In my opinion Turnbull was too far up himself whilst leaving a bloody mess ie NBN which was flawed, Albanese is a disgrace and an embarrassment whilst pulling Australia down to a Joke level, he has waddled around ignoring Australians forced to living on the streets whilst he has allowed floods of Illegal immigrants to arrive in Australia and be pampered , his diplomacy has wrecked Australia's relationship, his government mob are riddled with Woke incompetents, He has absolutely no interested in Australians being subjected to live like peasants while he wastes Australians Money on the Voice and telling Australians he understands whilst he buys a multi million Dollar Mansion ... are you blind RAY.
    I do agree that John Howard was the only P.M.(Since Menzies) that got things done to the benefit of Australia, I also believe the best Treasurer was Peter Costello.
    Whitlam, Fraser,Hawke,Keating,Rudd, Gillard, Abbott, Turnbull,Morrison all left Australia in a mess and when albanese gets chucked out he will be well up there with the WORST....but will he along with the others walk away with a BIG FAT Superannuation and Perks.
    Understand why I am not a fan of yours.
