    Thanks. I appreciate you going through food as well. I'm looking to start with just a one night hike, then go from there slowly adding to my kit, so it's nice having a pretty comprehensive set list with cheaper bits in there. (I'll likely shop around a bit or make do with what I've got and the extra weight when it comes to the expensive stuff, that said the sleeping pad might be something I'll have to suck it up on)

    Thanks for sharing Andy, Should be starting next Saturday, hoping for a reasonable weather window, doing it over 5 days as I’ve got my Mrs with me as well, refining the pack today, it’s about 11kg at the moment, I don’t think I can get it lighter than that, will keep trying though 😊

      Good info Andy, think I'm down to 10kg without water, but to achieve that pretty much no duplicates or luxuries. My kit now is old and I tend to buy kit on the more durable than light weight. So many times I see hikes that have raided the outdoor shop and take so much then look absolutely miserable when out walking.

    Hey Andy, thanks again for taking the time to go through your kit in such detail. It helped me enormously when planning for the Hebridean Way. I saw you've got the new Coros Vertix 2S - what are your thoughts on it so far, would you recommend? I'm swaying between that one, the Suunto Vertical, or good old Garmin Fenix.

      @@BackpackingUK I'm in Poland and I've just recently heard of them. I'm probably going to purchase one soon.
      It's just odd that none of the big channels (I would consider yours big) have never even mentioned them.

    • @Im_With_Stupid
      @Im_With_Stupid 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Obi-Wan_Pierogi There's a blue million gear companies out there and so many of them get lost in the pile if they don't promote heavily. I mean, you're in Poland yourself and even you just recently heard of them. Even when people do hear about new brands they usually still don't want to stray from the brands they already know they can rely on, especially when the new one is coming from some place like Poland. Not that there's anything wrong with Poland, but it's unfamiliar territory when it comes to outdoor gear. They have some good looking stuff, though. I would seriously consider one of those Trenlite jackets if they had a synthetic version.

    Nice series dude 👍
    Did you get any back neck or shoulder discomfort from using the Mo?
    Everything I read or watch says how comfy the Mo is... But I can't wrap my head around how it can be more comfortable than something like an Atmos AG50 given all the engineering and material which goes into that back and suspension system.

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It’s got nothing on the Atmos. Everyone who buys ultralight gear always says ‘best ever’ or ‘comfiest ever’. It’s a load of rubbish. To be fair, this pack is far better than most UL packs, but it’s no Atmos.

      @meyer8900 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds great! The Cicerone guidebook refers to “mountain” and “foul weather” alternatives along the Cumbria Way. Do you know if these alternatives are also covered by the Harvey map?

    What would be your choice of garmin products, the in- reach mini or the messenger? And what do the subscriptions cost? Another very good video Andy.

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Subs are £15pm on a limited plan and £35 for more than you’ll probably ever use! You can cancel anytime though. If I was doing some potentially dangerous stuff I’d take the inReach Mini 2, otherwise I’d take the Messenger.

I carry my cameras in a chest bag ( go pro, batteries, Panasonic lumix, plus battery bank) but my current bag rubs on my chest and causes pilling of merino tops. Do you think the OMM chest bag is suitable for cameras or would you feel them digging in you? Thanks

    So I would give a wide berth to a Chinese web site that sells tents stating that at 915 g the tent is lighter than 2 bottles of 500ml water. That would defy the whole of the metric system.

I have a Helikon micro med kit which I stuff with paracetamol, Imodium, and Dioralyte rehydration sachets. This would be on top of a booboo and blister kit. On account of its tiny size, this med kit can fit easily into a shorts or trouser pocket.
