    As a foot doctor I look at basketball shoes and basketball sneaker technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the tennis shoe's functional attributes on the tennis and basketball court
    Some of the main areas we cover in this basketball shoe playtest, teardown and performance review are:
    - The weight, durability, fit and playability
    - What are the features of the insole, midsole, and outsole
    - Under Armour basketball shoe technology explained

    Super comfortable, quiet with great perception of bounce compression-but on a typical dusty dirty indoor court - very slippy! Wore outside to ‘break in’ scuff the bottom to see if it helps improve traction. Bottom line - Unless your school court is dusted and cleaned regularly-this may not be the shoe for you. Spit & Hairspray helps……

    I totally see the success of this midsole and outsole set-up. I once used my Nike free running shoes on a dusty painted court after a morning run and the traction was far better than my other rubber outsole shoe. Not phenomenal but surprisingly good on a super dusty court.

    I've heard that this is a decent cross fit/gym shoe, because of the nature of flow foam, not compressing and bottoming out so much, that squats feel pretty good in them apparently as well as single leg split squats and that kinda squat exercises...

  • @louiepalmerdrums
    @louiepalmerdrums 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is this worth trying for outdoor hard tennis? Currently use Vapor Pro & nothing else works for me (gp turbo was ok but clunky). I’m always looking for more cushioning - is this worth trying?

    • @fishbball2630
      @fishbball2630 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are not durable so no. The whole flow gimmick is that the traction pattern is directly etched into the foam.
      Soft foam will not last on the outdoor surface. These are solely made for indoor play.

    A bit of feedback from this shoe, hope it helps others, and even designers :
    Switching from Hyperdunk 2018 to this and I don't really like it:
    The sole is not grippy on most floors i'm playing on and it really hurts my ankles after BBall sessions because of the unusual movement I'm starting to make to adapt . It's not THAT bad but definitely a downgrade from my previous shoes.
    The width is cool because of my palmed feets but I really dislike the grip, which is something I wasnt aware of when trying the shoe at the store (it's very comfortable for everything else though)

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found it was grippier outdoors than in- I’m interested to see if they tacked them up for the Curry 9

    • @Thibmac49
      @Thibmac49 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FootDoctorZach Yeah I really thought for a moment I just bought some outdoor shoes. The floor I'm usually playing in not actual wood floor like any court in NBA / US, and it can gather a bit of dust underneath which could explain the not so good grip.
      It's still only the first sessions I'm playing, the overall comfort is really good too so I hope I will be able to adapt playing with a bit of oversteer :D
      It's only annoying on quick direction changes
