Woody wasn't trying to kill Buzz. He was trying to knock him behind the desk so Andy would choose him (woody) to go to pizza planet. He got the idea from seeing the 8 ball rolling down there. That's why he was surprised Buzz got knocked out the window instead.

And the animation vastly improved along with it's storytelling, which makes the Toy Story franchise truly timeless. While other franchises before and after this have stumbled and fell because they couldn't keep their quality intact, Toy Story is one of the exceptional few that managed to do so.

Hot take but this is my favorite Toy Story film. While I still enjoy the sequels, its themes are inevitable, which is growing up, saying goodbye, and finding your own path, in that order.
I absolutely love the simplicity of this film's themes because it's something we feel at any age, whether you're 7 or 34. Jealousy, the fear of not being good enough for someone else or a group of people. I cried when Woody eventually gave in, telling Buzz how cool he is, and then admitting that he couldn't do anything other than pull his string and words come out. "I'm the one who should be strapped to that rocket..." :(

The "Pixar Blink" (as it's known) was actually an intentional decision by the studio as a sort of calling card. They purposely made the characters blink out of sequence in the first group of films they made, but eventually this faded out and they started doing the blinks normally. Personally I'm glad since it's more distracting than anything once you realize it's there.

13:53 Scud was actually animated like that on purpose. The people at Pixar wanted Scud to be a monster from a toy’s perspective, so they looked at images of leopards running for his running animation, even in the scene where Scud is stalking Woody and Buzz in the hallway of Sid’s house, Gary Rydstrom (sound designer) used sounds of tigers sleeping and growling for Scud.

I'd love for y'all to cover the two late 80's Timothy Dalton James Bond movies. I feel they REALLY feel like slightly more fantastical versions of the Daniel Craig Bond films and feel WAY ahead of their time yet don't get the love they deserve IMO.

One of this film's most impressive highlights was, as Martin stated, the scenes that delve into some "existential crisis." Incredible film that is enjoyed by an entire family.

I've waited YEARS for there to be a better/weirder animation comparison to Cargil's argument of The Lion King being anti socialist, but Korey's Buzz LIghtyear/Vlad Putin comparison may be a worthy successor. Now I'm just waiting to see who Pixar or Disney in general's version of Carl Marx is...it's a weird world we live in.

Just shows how good this movie is that the animation can be dated but it's still one of the best movies ever. And you know what? I would be kinda weirded out if they remastered this with the new new shit they have. That animation for what it is is still very charming.

It literally is blasphemy to even compare Toy Story to an ASYLUM film. This movie's animation is light-years better than ANYTHING that company's could ever put out, along with ANYTHING ELSE animated with CGI at the time. 😑🤔😠😡

It's like asylum because it's early in the technology, toy story was the first or at least one of the first fully CGI movies and it was top quality of it's time. As the technology and techniques have grown with Pixar and Disney pushing animation further the older tech and styles are cheaper hence why what was revolutionary over 20 years ago is on par with cheap low quality today
