Couldn't agree more. Though I wouldn't make any quick assumptions on the quick glimps of her dress. : D It does have a nice print & cut. The men are the worst offenders w/bold print ties & jackets of often conflicting hues! Some of the more sedate styles of the early ('70-'71-'72) to me are perfect. Levi jeans, t-shirts, Western-cut shirts & jackets. LOVED the straight hair on women. By 1973 everything was ramped up and styles got much more debatable. I was 8 in '71 and still dress similar. In the '90s I found tons of early '70s shirts and that's about all I ever wear on stage or anywhere. Even my bike in my pic is from '71 and I drive a '71 Chrysler Imperial. Even music and especailly movies from then are my fave. Sorry, Im rambling on...

You seem to be the queen of statistics for match game. I appreciate your information. Do you do it because you love//like it or is it your job? Just curious, you don't have to answer specifically. Thank you for all your contributions.

I have, and am still, watching these reruns. I just discovered them on TH-cam. Being 80 years old I lived through the 70's, the prime of my life. The clothing, men's hairstyles, women's big hair, all of them desperately tanning, check out the women, they look like paste, or maybe it is just the old film. Watching these programs now, the political correctness of today's world would have all the men jailed. The common, for our time, flirting, male/female interaction, double entendre, would have them banned, and the participants howled out of civil society. Still, I watch, for some reason I didn't at the time, reminisce and am entertained. However, I am astounded by the abject stupidity of the the panel and some of the guests. It leaves me wondering, was the show fixed, or were they just dumb.😜 Maybe that was part of the charm of the show.😎
A good deal of it was likely nervousness on the contestants part but yes some were dim wits as some of the panel were too, but nothing at all compared to today's stupidity. I do think that the show creators tried to strike a balance with smart/ dumb/ funny/ not so funny. The show over all was entertaining and really fun. I enjoy finding these old episodes and can watch for days.

BRETT always tries so hard NOT TO MATCH THE CONTESTANTS! Just like when she said, she should’ve gave a different answer when her answer was prayer, she think she’s being funny by not matching the contestants! She’s on her way now to getting plastered
He wore that multiple times before the Rubin zbroyhers deal came along. It wasn't out of the ordinary for the time. At least he didn't wear the platform shoes!
Every character I have seen played by either Jerry or Ben Stiller was perpetually angry. That's what I call "angry comedy". Thankfully, they never elevated to the level of Bobcat Goldthwait or Sam Kennison.
She and Jerry Stiller were a husband-and-wife act who did indeed get involved in arguments through comedic misunderstandings. I liked the usually clever humor, but didn't care for the arguing.
@@baltimorez-wad7281 I see you wrote the same thing as under the previous show. For whatever his human faults, William Shatner has quite a nice hairstyle of a fashionable length for 1974 -- it could even be a bit longer on such a young man. In addition, he has had an *extraordinary and successful* collection of careers as an actor (television, film, stage) spanning 65 years, author, director, singer, voice actor, and horse breeder. He earned a bachelor's degree in the 1950s, he's traveled the world, and he's still getting about at age 88. Whatever he may be, it doesn't seem to include a lack of brains.
The original “taking of Pelham 1,2,3” is a great movie. Don’t remember Jerry Stiller in it. About time I watched it again.
Absolutely love this game! Gene was a class act.
I want that striped frock Ann Elder is wearing - some '70s fashions were fabulous, some ghastly.

Anyone notice Brett wrote her y's backwards ? Love match game, this 70's stuff is so fascinating.
I think it's cause she's left handed and just learned to write it that way as a child
Can’t unsee that now!
She does this a lot but sso do/es several others on the show
Because she was left handed.
Thanks for the feedback, never considered left-handedness as an explanation. This is why I love the comment section. Grasias to all.

Brett was lit in episode 139, she's much tamer in this episode, so far. 😄

Nipsey accused Brett of being jealous of Ann Elder.
Brett was jealous of any better woman, which was virtually every other woman.
Too funny ,I was just talking with someone, who needs to get a good lawyer their marriage is sinking badly.
Richard has interesting mannerisms. He touches the top of his head, the bridge of his nose,
and many times touches his eyes w/the back of his fingers.
Jim the contestant sure was a nice looking guy, impeccable hair and clothes.
Brett was what they now call thirsty
140 episodes I've counted 6 dumb Dora questions
You counted Dumb Dora questions? LoL
Hey those were the best and timeless questions
Was that comm on Richard card at the beginning, I couldn't read it..
Does anyone know just how many gifts the losing contestants got? If it’s only one, do they get to choose it themselves? Just curious.
they are usually announced at the end of the show, and it's usually three gifts and they don't choose them.
Story Lass oh thank you for the info. Much appreciated.
I just saw a post from a girl who was on the show and she got a container of Mop and Go and a bottle of salad dressing LOL She had a good time though.
And of course the classic consolation prizes Turtle Wax and a home version of the game!
Richard actually didn’t like being called “Dickie”.
I have notice that he hasn't worn the jacket that goes with those pants since episode 80, just the pants with a black jacket..
I doubt the censor would allow the pants and jacket at the same time. It would screw up TV sets all over the country! LoL
Seems to me Richard’s jacket matches Gene’s pants!

How did this game show get so Risque'?
She is not happy, she wants the 5000.
Richard - obviously distracted by Ann. I know I am.
Yes Brett, there IS only one answer. The cave man used to play tunes on his ARMPITS!
Panelists:
1. William Shatner
2. Anne Meara
3. Nipsey Russell
4. Brett Somers
5. Richard Dawson
6. Ann Elder
No Ann, leave that jacket OFF

I love this but celebrities try too hard to be funny and they aren't.....well most of the time.
Gene's outfit is awful today.
It would've been considered pretty classy for the time.
He wore that multiple times before the Rubin zbroyhers deal came along. It wasn't out of the ordinary for the time. At least he didn't wear the platform shoes!
Between her hair style and her choice of glasses, they both combine to make Phyllis look very frumpy.
Anne Meara is married to the family that made a fortune out of angry comedy?
Huh?? The Stiller's are angry?

Why his hair was no longer than Richard Dawson's!?
Wig!
