      Sleepy.Time; Me too. I joined the Marine Corps in 1965. When people would ask me, "Why in the Hell did you do that?" I would say, "Too many Comic Books."

      Same here! In fact that Comic Book is probably what ultimately ended up getting me into the Army as a tank commander. Only those were on M60A1's and A3's. ;) The Stuart is still one of my favorite tanks.

    The interior of the turret and driver's compartment are show-room perfect.

    How in the world did they open the front hatches? Brute strength?
    Serious question.

    One 37 mm main gun , two or three 30 caliber belt fed machine guns in 30.06 or 7.62×63 mm, and sometimes one 50 caliber belt fed heavy machine gun that's 12.7 mm for anti-aircraft work And probably a assortment of M-3 grease guns and 45 ACP 1911 s carried by the crew that's 12.2mm I believe made by early Cadillac gauge with a V8 Cadillac engine and some had a 9 cylinder radial engine. These tanks were a good match against the Japanese tanks on Iwo jima with the U.S.M.C.

      this is so early in the war that I think you would see a Thompson used rather than the M3 Grease gun

    Because of the 'Haunted Tank' comics of the 1970s, this is one of my favorites, obsolete or not.

    Why the red paint ?

    • @oddball759mm
      @oddball759mm  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      spot primer. probably a imperfection with the paint or metal finish that needed a quick sanding. The vehicle was not fully restored yet and was in it's final stages when it was presented at this show. I'm pretty sure the base coat of OD was added in the years since this video was made

      i believe as long as it has rubber tracks its ok

    • @powergym4925
      @powergym4925 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      and in some countries the turret isnt alowed to rotate (oc the cannon cant shoot)

    • @oddball759mm
      @oddball759mm  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      depends on the state, the tracks are rubber blocked so it's good on streets. The turret is fully functional and the gun can be reactivated if you file the proper paperwork with the ATF. The gun being larger in caliber than 50.cal is considered a "destructive device", a $200.00 tax stamp and some background checks later and you can repair the gun.
