Are your twigs fresh from the tree and green, or have they been allowed to dry and then we’re soaked? Or are you weaving with dry mulberry twigs? I have wild mulberry I’d like to make a basket with. I admire your skill!

Watched this a few months ago and wanted to maky a basket but couldn't. Now that I moved, I'm about to walk with my dog down to the river/train track and collect some branches and twigs to weave my basket for foraging! Thanks a bung for the inspo!!!
Just found out after living up a Spanish mountain for a year, Im surrounded by Esperto grass, which has been used for centuries to make baskets etc, looked at a few videos and yours is the easiest to follow and adapt, thank you so much😊

I notice most people say to use an odd number of sticks for the spokes but yours comes out fine with an even number. Is that because you use two weavers instead of one?

Will it break when the twigs dry? Or will it get moldy or have smell? Cool video!
Dry will certainly break,,, after weaving we keep it in sun for a few days to make the stick dry.

I been messing around a little bit and made some pine needle baskets but was always intimidated by wicker or basket weaving like this. @@BirdyOfficial Of coarse! My whole life I would see amazing woven or wicker baskets at things like thrift stores or a second hand store like Goodwill. I was always fascinated and curious about them. Tomorrow I'm collecting a ton of the sticks from the tall bushes by the river. Very similar to a willow but some have bright red bark and would look awesome. Thanks again for the knowledge. It's very appreciated. I will definitely pass it on to lots of people.

These are mulberry tree sticks,,,we didn't soak them, just collect in dormancy period and keep for somedays.
