I like to think he knew his team. Dig would probably have hung up and felicity would probably do exactly what she did. Oliver tended to do a lot based on how he knew people would react, especially as he got closer to his team.
@BerserkerJay237 remember though, Slade thought Sara was already dead. Anger may have came later, but I think it was fear forst because it's like "you're not supposed to be here". This definitely threw a wrench in his plans, since oliver wasn't alone anymore about who he truly is
