- Wonderful to see ,in this almost documentary footage, how Kurt can work with a, the day before written song (on piano) and play such with these friends (Aaron Parks and Ben Street (bass). At first a kind of try-out followed by the final song after some changes. This file is HD quality which may not run like that or even very well on not supported systems. Any complaints will be respected concerning technical or authoristic aspects. Comment if you'd like to
What a great song. This should be on an album.
It is on his solo piano. But i agreethere should be a quartet version.
I wish this was on an album! Its one the most moving pieces of music for me personally that I've heard in a while. So thankful to know about Kurt - he's shifting my study of composing and playing. Thankyou for posting this Geepereet
That lick at 0:27 / 3:05 can only be Kurt. It's kind of a signature thing. His sound is so good. And this quartet has such amazing players. It's a really cool thing that Aaron and Kurt share players and tunes.
Its from the Dutch VPRO broadcasting company serie called 'vrije geluiden' and I'm sure this is not on DVD.The info text tells you Kurt wrote this tune just one day before but he wrote it on piano. This was actually the first time he performed this with his friends
This is so amazing--thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the other names Sandemose!
wow
Aaron Parks and Ben Street (bass) Great band :) Thanks for uploading! Best, Sandemose
Ted Poor on drums!
@gentilguy Use of Light is one of my favorite songs ever!!
Full of emotion... not much of this today
I did, the two songs on my channel was the whole gig despite of a part of the interview
you're right. I saw the same with Jesse Van Ruller. its just from TV.
Don't forget the drummer!... Ted Poor! Very fresh drumming
The tape is to stop the pick from making a clicking sound, when struck through the strings accidentally.
@Bendoengbanaang correct me if I'm wrong but I think he grabbed that lick from Mark Turner. I love using it because if you start it from the 5th (in this case), you get the #11. but I can't say I'm positive who got it from who, I've just heard Mark use it a lot in his playing and in his writing.
this is not from any of his albums, apparently it's just a new tune he's written and rehearsing for the first time for this clinic/masterclass type thing. playing with aaron parks, ben street and ted poor
@damienasdfljk jajaja i agree, his dreaming !! jeje
Anyone knows about the tape-thing going on on the neck pickup? The blue strap? Best, Sandemose
yo man, are there other videos of this performance that can be downloaded or viewed somewhere else?
I've posted another short song from the same show but that's all. ;-(
Is he using classic 57 pickups?
@HendrixcommaMartin maybe it was rattling?
@5gumiship that's what I thought. Or maybe it's the latest trend.
Make it more blue sounding!
@damienasdfljk Quite the opposite, I think he had about 50 cups of coffee.
seriously. maybe his brain functions differently or something lol.
