    First of all, what's the deal with all of the nit picky comments?
    Good for you guys!❤
    I am from the U.S. and flew to Amsterdam in April. I followed Eurovelo 15 through 6 different countries in 6 weeks.
    My bike is still in Europe and I'm thinking about a shorter trip next year.
    Thanks again for the video.
    P.S. I wore my helmet every mile.

    Nice video. Brave of you to cycle in this weather in the time of the year !
    i guess you take two tips from this trip:
    2: go a month later when the weather is better ( lbeit without blooming tulips).
    2: go from Dunkirk to Amsterdam to benefit southwestern tailwinds ! 😁

    Wow! I’m so glad i found your video. We’re planning a similar trip next summer (2025) except we plan to stay in the Netherlands the entire ride, basically starting and finishing in Amsterdam. Thank you for doing this, i can’t wait to check out the links you provided and your other videos. Congratulations on what looked like a fantastic adventure.

    Not to be that person... But Rozenburg is still Zuid-Holland. And the place you showed as Zeeland at 18.55 in the video is actually the island of Goeree-Overflakkee. The lowest island of Zuid-Holland. So I am afraid you never set foot in Zeeland. Nice video though!

    Very nice video! Inspiring to do a bike trip.
    What do you think of the tenways bikes? Are they stable with all the luggage? Is it a problem that they don't have gears, especially when you drive 25 km/h don't you have to paddle to quickly? Thanks.

    • @GoingGreenOfficial
      @GoingGreenOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you! They are great bikes and we highly recommend them for a trip like this. They are very stable if you bungee cord up right. Gears are not an issue as it electronically adjusts.

      Thank you! Yes these E bikes are great 🙌 On our best day we managed to get 75km out of the battery, but that was because we had 15kg of weight on the back of the bikes. We think they could probably do 85-90km on a really good day.

    • @buddy1155

      They hired Tenways, really one of the most despicable companies in the world, the bikes are build by Uyghurs slave labour.
      Tenways pretends to be a Dutch company with "headquarters" in the Netherlands and a suggestion that the bikes are build in the Netherlands, they are not!
      And if they had hired a Gazelle with a Bosch motor power line and 500kw battery they could have driven easily 150km if not 200 km a day.

    Helmets are silly here.

  • @therealdutchidiot
    @therealdutchidiot ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Especially in the Netherlands (as I'm sure you've noticed) you stand out like a sore thumb wearing a helmet.
    "Oh, tourists" is what you'll hear people say.

    • @GoingGreenOfficial
      @GoingGreenOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      We noticed some funny looks but we didn’t care too much as we knew it was much safer to be wearing them

    • @therealdutchidiot
      @therealdutchidiot ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@GoingGreenOfficial I hope you realise that's not actually true, right? Research done in the Netherlands shows wearers of helmets are at greater risk of accidents than those who don't wear helmets. There are many reasons for this, but the most important one is the fact a helmet makes you feel more safe than you really are. The same goes from a driver's perspective. You're no longer seen as a vulnerable road user, but you clearly are, because helmets don't protect you against anything more than falling off your bike. A crash with a car means you'll have a cracked skull underneath the helmet.

    • @GoingGreenOfficial
      @GoingGreenOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealdutchidiot We believe it’s better to be safe then sorry especially when going on main roads in Belgium. They also reduced the solar glare for us, so it was this or a cap.

      A meta analysis of old studies isn't going to give accurate results (your first link). The second link agrees with my poiint of view.
      Now, ofcourse, Belgium (especially Wallonia) is terrifying. But wearing a helmet is counterproductive there as well.
      If you're prone to falling off your bike a helmet is recommended. But they won't do anything to improve safety otherwise.
      Now, ofcourse, you're free to do as you please, but you look silly without any gain.

      To use helmets on e bikes makes sense, on normal bikes it doesn't.
      Especially older people using e bikes are at high risk of death due to head injury. 291 bike deaths in 2022 of whom a huge percentage rode e bikes, especially 75+ are at high risk.

    Perhaps instead of wasting money on pointless styrofoam helmets, you should spend some time setting up those bikes correctly. Your postures are very bad and you are obviously not stable riding in a straight line. There is a simple way to tell if your setup is wrong. If you go straight but need to steer, it is wrong.
