    Regimanuel Gray estate looks nice. You should do a tour next time you are back in SL. I think Freetown needs more planned estates! Glad to see your house project is well on its way!

      Regimanuel Gray estate is really nice. I stay at my friends house there every time I visit. I plan to do a tour in april when I go t back to Sierra Leone. yes the house project is finally taking shape. It has been a journey but I appreciate the process.

      I agree. Planned estates are the way to go but the problem is financing for both the builder and buyer. I know of some smaller scale planned communities being built in n SL by a company called American Homebuilders if West Africa. They first started in guinea and have since expanded to Newton Sierra Leone.
      The cheapest home they have starts at $10k with financing available
      Their TH-cam channel is jobomax

      After doing some research, TAF will be building a large community at John Obey starting at the end of this year

      Lesson Learned for me. I had to fire two different contractors and finally have gotten a good one. The way I see it, its better know what is bad so I can understand what a good contractor looks like. I had to learn the hard lesson, but at leas I know now.

    I had to let go of my engineer as well cuz he was getting paid but don't show up at the site to check on the contractor's work. Bunch of times we have to redo some areas and that cost money especially with all the high inflation in prices. Quick question, have you seen any condominium back home? For instance, build an apartment complex and sell it by apartment instead of renting? It very common now in Ghana, Nigeria and many part in Africa. Have you heard or seen anything like that in Sierra Leone?

    • @AuthenticAfrican
      @AuthenticAfrican  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you never finish with the contractor you start with. That was told to me in the begining and they were so right. It just takes a while to know what a good contractor is and time to meet different people who can refer talent...As for condo buildings like Ghana and Nigeria, not yet. There are people building apartments, however most are renting. There is not enough High Income earners, so buying whole buildings is something that is a bit rare for now.

    Don’t be afraid to call them out in their nonsense . My dad is building a house and it’s still not done 🙄 especially when you live in the USA they think you’re living like a billionaire

    Another great video! Curious question - How do you get internet in Sierra Leone to be uploading these HD videos and how do you plan on getting internet service for your house? When I was there you'd pay $40 for 40GB, more expensive than a FiOS plan in the states.

    • @AuthenticAfrican
      @AuthenticAfrican  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks JR. I bought a MIFI and used that for internet everywhere I went. It was about $50-$70/month or so depending on the plan but I had plenty of GBs to upload. A good friend of mine suggested QCell, so that is what I have been using. However, many people say you should go with Orange.

      @jrwalker8801 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AuthenticAfrican Always delivering the gold, man - thanks. Orange doesn't have true unlimited plans which was our problem while I was there as we hit our 40gb monthly cap quickly - I'm going to give QCell a call and see if their unlimited truly doesn't have a data cap - that would change the game.

    Sup bro, I desire to build a villa in Sierra Leone. I always love the country. Even doe I am not from there. What would you say is different between Ghana and Sierra Leon. I have a feeling that Ghana will be more famous and expensive while SL is more lay low. Not yet discovered by many. What your thoughts on this?

    • @AuthenticAfrican
      @AuthenticAfrican  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Alim, I think it would be cheaper for you to build in SL. What are you looking to do with the villa? Is the plan to rent it? If so, it might be more expensive in ghana but you can make more money. Ghana is bigger and also more a tourist destination.

    hello im interested in building a house in Sierra Leone. I was wondering how much did it cost you for your house to get to how it is at your second site visit? and also how much did that cost you in equipment and how much do the workers require to be paid if you know what I mean. it doesn't need to be exact just roughly. would really appreciate it. thanks

    • @AuthenticAfrican
      @AuthenticAfrican  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes you absolutely should build a house. I recommend building something that you can rent out. This way you can make income from it. Just the guest house in total will cost me about $32k. I would say each floor of the house will be about $28-$33k if you start building now. The cost of materials keeps going up every day.

      @@AuthenticAfrican very helpful! Thank you very much! One more question how much was the land roughly?

    • @AuthenticAfrican
      @AuthenticAfrican  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here are some estimates I have been given:
      Land | Cost Per Square Metre | Per Town Lot
      Beach front or Prime | $35.80 | $12,472.70
      Western Urban | $21.06 | $7,336.88
      Western Rural | $11.02 | $3,839.36
      Outside Western Area | $6.31 | $2,201.06

      @AuthenticAfrican  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately he is limited in the number of jobs he can take at a time, so I can not share his info as of yet. However, as I get close to finishing my project, I will be more than happy to share his info. However, I do plan to interview him for the channel and give you an idea of what to look for in a contractor.
