It's also because the devs half-ass his death. He didn't have a grand death or a impactful one like Jacob or Barry or even Blucher. He died as a nobody officer in Roscoff without knowing that the American marines would eventually arrived to save Crawford. Jacob died knowing the Leipzig survivors escaped even if he got blown to pieces, same with Barry in San Sebastion, and even Blucher pave the way for the survivors to retake Kaub for the Prussian Army. Instead, they could've still kill Jean off but just made sure to flush out his death better; making him sacrifice himself to save Crawford or even better, an NPC that actually fights along side with you like the HMS Undaunted Crew whom assisted the survivors at Vardøhus Fortress.

The devs don't need to give jean a grand death because he is just a character with 5-6 lines, he may have the most lines, but still too little to be worth appearing in 2 objective maps as a meaningful character. Why would they give a character with less than 10 lines a grand death in a map after the one where he already played his part in the entire story?
@@ryokaino2789 We don't know but I doubt it. The survivors escaped on the ferryman boat while Jean escaped via those civilian carriages so I doubt they got stationed in Roscoff.
here is a theory abt jean so he was a captain and he evacuated Paris with his men but they had no escape, then the skimisher regiment was sent to rescue them and they were evacuated to a nearby city 2 years later he got promoted to officer , so he and his men went to roscoff where most of them died, the french soldiers that you spawn as during the 3rd respawn are jeans surviving soldiers.
pretty good theory, especially since all the respawning soldiers are from the 1e just like jean, only thing you got wrong is that catacombes and roscoff take place in the same year, even the devs said that jean "yells at you, does nothing and then dies *three months later*"

btw i remember getting hit by the zapper axe with the seige armor but i never get gash, must be a new upside, also please do test if the extended surgeon kit doesnt use up an extra charge for gashes as im curious.

@@TheOldGuardfrfr i personally tried it, and I probably should have worded the original comment better, but it serves its own purpose but I personally think the normal crucifix serves its job better due to the fact that you still can be attacked during the exorcism but the normal one gives your teammates time to recollect and reinforce. I find the normal one easier to use since the exorcism only slows little and does minimal damage.
