Does Psalm 1 Promote Keeping the Law?

  • I remember going to Sunday Church, and everyone quoted the book of Psalms for their daily walk in Messiah. But when I carefully read Psalm chapter 1 as a Pro Torah Believer, I noticed that the book of Psalms is very much for keeping the law! So why hasn't the Sunday Christian quoted the pro law chapter, and why is it "not for us today" whenever they do see the law in Psalms?

“How blessed are those who reject the advice of the wicked, don’t stand on the way of sinners or sit where scoffers sit! Their delight is in Adonai’s Torah; on his Torah they meditate day and night. They are like trees planted by streams - they bear their fruit in season, their leaves never wither, everything they do succeeds. Not so the wicked, who are like chaff driven by the wind. For this reason the wicked won’t stand up to the judgment, nor will sinners at the gathering of the righteous. For Adonai watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked is doomed.”

Good video. However, when you drew the two paths shouldn't the right path be on the right side. What hand does Yeshua sit on. Doesn't Eccl say. A wise person's heart inclines to the right and a foolish person's heart inclines to the left?

As Jesus Christ came to fulfil the law, we see in the New Testament the ceremonial laws you describe are no longer part of the new covenant.
We are now in the “Sabbath” because of what Jesus did in the cross. Hope you are enjoying your summer

To fulfill is not the same as to abolish.
Not the smallest part of the law (including keeping the 7th day sabbath) will end. Matthew 5:17-20
I made another video explaining that you can't divide the law into moral and ceremonial, it's all one law.
Btw christians still keep what you would consider ceremonial commands, such as marriage and tithing 🙂
My summer is great, how's yours?

@@kingdomseekers1973 Hey. I am doing well. We are recovering from a three day heatwave in Alberta. I love summer, but sometimes it can get a bit too hot.
To “fulfill” is to meet the ceremonial laws, in the Old Testament.
The context of Exodus chapter 20 is clearly a covenant between God and the nation of Israel (Exodus 31:17). Outside of His covenant with Israel, God nowhere commands anyone to keep the Sabbath. Once the New Covenant was established at the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the only recorded instances of Sabbath observance were regarding Christian missionaries visiting Jewish synagogues on the Sabbath day. The apostles nowhere teach New Covenant believers to observe the Sabbath. In Acts 15, when the apostles were deciding what requirement should be placed on non-Jewish believers in Christ, the Sabbath conspicuously did not make the list.
The Gospel of Matthew was written to the Jews and in this case Jesus was speaking to the Jews. After Pentecost, He established one Church discern how to work with the Gentile ministry. Again, the Sabbath Day is important to observe, but it is not limited to a Saturday 😀
Hey, any holidays or trips for you this summer? I hope to visit family and friends I haven’t seen in 7 years.

Yeshua do not abolish the COMMANDMENTS
      Revelations 22:14
Blessed are they that do His COMMANDMENTS that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city

      Hi, my brother,
You know, TH-cam is so frustrating. I replied to your message but it didn't go through. So, I signed out of everything and hopefully it will work.
Glad to hear your summer is going well. Planning any trips? I will be flying over Canada to see my family for the first time in 7 years at the end of the month. I hope for good times. Keep me posted with life for you this summer 😀
You had mentioned, "To fulfill is not the same as to abolish".
To this, I would like to say three things:
*1.* The discrepancy I am about to show you all settles around the word, "fulfill". What does it mean for Christ to "fulfill the Law" of Moses? My 3rd point will lead to an in-depth discussion; but, the Apostle Paul provides an example where Scripture is made confusing for the average reader.
*2.* We can we say? Scripture is "complex" 🙂 Jesus seems clear in Matthew 5:17 that _he did not abolish the law_ when He said, “Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
And yet, what do we find in Ephesians 2:14-15?
“For He is our peace, who has made us both one, and has broken down the dividing wall of hostility, by *abolishing in his flesh the law of commandments and ordinances”* (cf. Rom. 7:1-4, Heb. 10:9-16).
Here's "crazy" example, bro.: Though the Gospels report that Jesus observed the Sabbath, *there are several incidents where He is accused of violating Sabbath law* (Jn. 9:16, Jn 7:23, Mk. 3:4).
So, one's understanding of the Law and the Sabbath must take these into consideration.
*3.* I offer this recommendation on what Jesus means by "Fulfill". It is actually answered with in text, itself. For this I suggest Sam Shamoun's video as he goes into great detail. It is 20 minutes long but he address many issues with the Law of Moses and offers a good explanation of the word "fulfill". "Do Christians Need To Keep Moses’ Law If Jesus Did NOT Abolish It?" th-cam.com/video/fK1DJJdX-LE/w-d-xo.html
      Have a great day, brother.

This is false , you are the people Paul was talking about in Galatians coming with a different Gospel , Christ has fulfilled this law , if you say fulfilling doesn’t mean it’s done away with please state that you are still sacrificing grain offerings guilt offerings sin offerings as of today ?? If he has fulfilled these things yet it’s not done away with then you obviously should be giving burnt offerings. There should still be levitical priests and so on. When you say the law has not been done away with it’s sad because you yourself do not even uphold all the laws God gave to the Israelites

Are you saying that Jesus died for nothing because we can earn our own salvation ? Pray for the Holy spirit to give you Knowledge , wisdom , discernment and understanding and let me finish with this. Galatians 3:24-26 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
So try and keep the law and stop sinning until you realize you can't keep the law or stop sinning . Ask yourself how many time do i repent from sin and is there a limit? You can sinn all the time and repent its the same as the catholic church adds to the gospel by making people confess to a man in a box when Jesus paid for all sin. Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Sorry for the confusion. We can only be saved by grace through faith in Yeshua Messiah.
But once you believe that Yahweh is Almighty, and His Son is messiah, we must then obey His law.
      John 14:15
"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."
      Exo 20:6
and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

@@kingdomseekers1973 The commands in John are not and cannot be the law because since Jesus died we are under Gods Grace and our spirit is born again when we believe on the finished work of Christ . So what are the commands Jesus wants us to keep ? Take a look at 1 John 3:22-24
      King James Version
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
