    Thanks to all the experts for your comments.
    I just met the girls 2 minutes before the session.
    Funnily enough my methods produced 7 National YOUTH Champions at PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. Must have just been lucky eh.

    Thanks for posting this. Our team is growing and learning, and we appreciate this resource. We just started using the traditional number system, and we love how it has simplified things for our whole team- coaches and players. We have been doing this building from the back, but with 4-4-2. We like how you teach the 4-2-3-1. It makes sense. Thanks for your help!

    HI Feras, this is Wayne. Yes they struggled with it and I agree with you, but remember this was the first time they had ever done this and in a way it helped me to establish better the way it develops. Thanks for taking the time to comment on them though it shows you are interest which is what is important. Cheers Mate.

    Strange how many people have criticized this video. For me, the concept and the principle of play were there and I am sure there are more videos that progress and build on from this. Thank you for the video I am sure many young coaches can benefit

    FFS if the video is not up to your standards there are millions of others you can search on youtube. It's not as easy as moving cones when you got to explain and move teenagers into shape, especially in America which lacks a bit of football knowledge. On the bright side, Wayne, I've played the game for 17 years transitioning now from player to coach after being done playing in college in the states. Enjoyed the book and other videos loads, great information for up and coming coaches

    Building up from the back with the sweeper is the famous Lavolpe tactic that Guardiola adopted from him, el Piojo is probably Lavolpe's best 'student'

    @ Feras, more girls playing football in the US, than any 3 European countries combined, plus the Women's National Team ranked #1 in the world with 2 Cups and 3 Olympic golds.Wayne said this is an advanced system, the 5000 clubs playing in America U18 and hav own terminology & styles of play. It is hard to get good results if you don't know the players & they don't know you. I used this with teams with mix results with his book and DVD's, I was brought up on 4-3-3 & then the 4-4-2 in the 1970's.

    The game is as simple as pass the ball to a player in open space, the point in tactics is to make finding that space and defensive organizing easier. If you're in a pocket of space 10 yards in diameter you can afford to have a bad touch.
    I enjoyed the lesson, It just confirmed what I've been wondering about essentially morphing into a 3-4-3 with the "6" as the coach called it turning into an extra defender. Now I'm wondering if there are any teams who pass the ball who don't use this formation and what the best Counter Formation would be?

    Enjoyable video. Would like to point out that Barcelona don't play 4-2-3-1, and most probably never will. They play 4-1-2-3/4-1-2-2-1, if anything.

    Question regarding who goes where, from defensive to attacking team shape and vice verse:
    When switching from defensive to attacking one of the defensive midfielders becomes the attacking midfielder whilst the one acting as the most offensive in the defensive team shape becomes a central midfielder.
    Shouldn't the the most offensive player in the defensive team shape also act as the most offensive in the attacking team shape? It's a long way back to find the defensive shield and formation again

    Its Sergio Ramos. Arguably best defender in the world.

  • @wayneharrison3490
    @wayneharrison3490 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jesper, 6 becomes a sweeper in front of the center backs and 8 is the most offensive of the two. When we lose possession 6 becomes a sweeper behind the center backs and 8 drops into 6's position. Its really not so far at all to drop back.

      Hi Wayne,
      I'm teaching this system to my U15 girls. So, when defending near our goal the 6 drops back to play sweeper BEHIND the line and 8 takes their spot in front of the CB's? Would both not remain central? Thanks for the video.

  • @ermalpula
    @ermalpula 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    4 2 3 1 is my favourite formation, and he did a pretty decent job explaining the basic transition tactics. However, this formation was designed for top professional clubs in top leagues. This can prove devastating in youth leagues as they don’t have the same level of conditioning and the technical ability to execute in this formation. You should be very careful how you move numbers up front in the offensive state. You could get absolutely decimated on the counter attack..

    • @cchurtado04
      @cchurtado04 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally would have to disagree. My u-13 team doubled in points this season compared to last because of this formation. We went for 9 goals made and 32 allowed to 21 scored and 12 allowed. Everything changed once this formation was used

    • @liceafilms
      @liceafilms 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cchurtado04 I have a U14 team that has no issues playing in a 4-2-3-1 and they actually do quite well too. 38 goals in favor, 10 against in 12 matches

  • @drc003
    @drc003 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You are correct that Barca plays a 4-3-3. However Spain, during their run of 2 Euro's and a World Cup were playing a 4-2-3-1. They both used a Tiki-Taka style but Spain's formation was 4-2-3-1.

      Bad idea son a full back should be higher up and the center backs go wider and if anything a defensive midfielder looks to drop in if they have to, you need width and depth i used to have my outside backs get out wide and low but it is harder to get out i fkd that up trust me.

    We between 14-16 million playing football in America registered in America age 6-21, the problem is we neither have our own style, nor are all of us on the smae page. We confuse ourselves and our kids with all these things. Plus none of our Pro-teams are truly connected to young development. SO, to say there is slow progress would be not the right thing to say, we have tons of progress, just so little direction.
