I would love to see an ecoslay washday. I remember a few years ago you posted a video on how orange marmalade was the strongest hold gel you used and now you're saying it's briogeo so it would be awesome to compare especially now that they have jello shot which has a stronger hold.
I have just recently tried Mop Top (I have the curl enhancing gel & leave-in conditioner) & have been really happy with the results. I was hesitant since it wasn't fragrance free but what little scent it has does not bother me. This is the first gel I have actually liked. I preferred mousse for a long time but wasn't having good luck with refreshing-it always frizzed or just made my hair look stringy/dirty (NYM curl enhancing mousse) when trying to refresh day 3 hair. But the gel makes refreshing just with a mist of water so easy! I wish I'd tried this brand earlier.
I’m so happy! I love Mop Top products, and I’ve been wondering about that gel, which I’ve been considered trying. Thank you so much for reviewing these products, and I’ve been loving this series!😁
With the refresh water for me I usually use distilled water in my spray bottle. I don’t know if that is better or not, but it works for me. Also I would love to see you do Kinky Curly. I personally use the Knot Today Leave in with the Curling Custard and I have really great results with this combo. I’ve never tried the shampoo because our Target doesn’t carry it.
I feel ya on the loosening curl pattern overnight, despite using a bonnet (although that does help prevent frizz). What's funny as I regrow my 2a/2b/2c hair using a curly gal method, is that the back of my head is retaining its curl pattern and refreshing much better than the front. Also, the left side in general is styling better than the right, which is stringy of late. Meanwhile my kid son's only problem with his 3a hair, is remembering to wash the back of his head because otherwise his curls are always defined and spring back the next day with a little spritz of water. Sigh.
I always do a refresh in the morning but I don't soak my hair with water. I use enough to reactivate the gel and curls without the frizz factor. For me if my refresh means a complete soak down I might as well do the full meal deal start to finish... ain't nobody got the time for that...😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Have you tried the Giovanni Curl Habit line? The shampoo and conditioner seem to define my clumps all by themselves. I'd love to see you do a one brand washday with them. 😊
I sometimes get that big chunky wave section in front that is almost a curl or a wave, then gave up, and I don't know what it is. I have pretty good luck refreshing but I know, it will make my curl clumps smaller. It's a trade off with waves but I usually refuse to fully soak my hair. If I can't refresh in about 10-15 minutes, my hair is going up in a bun or something similar.
Hair looked good refreshed! I know you hate refreshing and honestly, I do too, ESPECIALLY after Day 2 hair, which, for me, is usually a minimal refresh day, but it looks good. Maybe you can use this brand for refreshes since it did so well for you.
Lol I say jibber jabber all the time. You introduced me to moptop and I still love them. Just wish custard didn't have glycerin so I could use year round. ❤
I actually LOVE the Mop Top Curl Enhancer gel much more than the curling custard (*gasp). I know layering gels is not what you're doing for this series, but it also works well under other gels for more hold. I've had really good results using it under the mop top anti frizz gel.
Would you say this line would be considered lightweight? A lot of CG products are just too heavy for my hair. And does it have protein? I'm not sure that my hair likes/needs any. Love your videos!
I wonder how that gel would play with VERY fine curls (like cobweb fine!). Everything weighs them down (minus a couple of Ouidad gels), but I’m looking for a gel with some slip. Great vid! Thank you so much
I have been wanting to try Mop Top. I loved all of your comments on each of these products. For wavy, fine, medium porosity hair which one would be better to try first: their light conditioner or daily conditioner?
I know the Curly Girl “standards” are pretty strict and there are very few products that you can use in your hair if you’re following those rules. But there are still ingredients I avoid because it’s been drilled into my head - like sulfates and silicones. I heard you mention that the Mop Top products were free of both of those. However, I think with the conditioner, you mentioned it containing shea butter, and that’s another one that I typically try to avoid because I started out trying to follow Curly Girl. (For the record, I can’t remember why that ingredient was a no-no, just that it was to be avoided). How do you find products with shea butter do in your hair? I feel like we have similar hair - I’m definitely an swavy girl trying to find my place in this curly world.
It's funny how I've lost the plot with refreshing my hair lately because I always find it frizzy... I'll add more water. It's not that I didn't know about it, but like you, I hate damping my hair. I'll give it a try.
Loved it! I wish that you would post the names of the products that you use in the description. Sometimes I forget, and sometimes not listening closely. Even at the end of your video, if you just called it “this gel”, and it would be really handy if I could read it instead of trying to find it at some point in the video.
I like doing refreshes but I can't get my hair wet enough with the spray bottle as my 3b curls need to be pretty saturated. Sometimes I like my gel refresh results better on a refresh day than on washday.
Is the curl enhancing gel new or did they just rename one of their other gels? I thought they had two different gels before and neither of them had much hold. I used to love using the custard wirh the Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee. Maybe I should give that a try again. Not sure why I ever stopped. It always gave me the best cast and best waves.
I do say jibber jabber when it fits. But I'm twice as old as you so..... I don't feel like it but sadly true. Also I have similar hair (yes still) I've straightened it. And I grew up in the pin straight 60's. I did try and blow the wave out 😂😂 As for refresh. I refresh every day. Mostly very light misting and maybe a little sea salt spray or whatever. Witch i love your hair is a daily addition. I love that stuff! My refreshes take at most 5 min and air dries in a few min. It looks good, often better than 1st day, for 6 days. Light refreshes are my friend. I'm old (ugh I hate to admit that!) but my hair is young!! So I focus on the positive. I also have alot of your shirts so you know we're on the same page there! ❤️ 🙏
By now, you must have tried a million different products for your one brand wash days. Do you have a favorite that you would recommend through all this? I feel like a lot of the different brands create similar results on your particular hair. So I'm curious how you feel about it. Also, I think you should say jibberjabber any time you feel like it! :)
What scent does the gel have? I haven't bought mop top because of the glycerin. In missouri i have a small window to use products with glycerin because my hair does not hold if the dew point is not in the range.
Is it encouraging to say that today's before hair looks better than some of the other before hair? 🤔 In all honestly though it's not about the before hair, it's the after that we are here for. 😉 Oooooo nice refresh too.
I've always wondered if bending over the tub is tiring/puts a strain on your back? Also, putting a spray nozzle on the tub spicket may make rinsing easier:)
It sure would make it easier if I added one of those! I actually have a degenerative back condition. I’ve actually found that since I’ve started styling my hair wavy curly and I spend more time upside down each week. My hamstrings are way more flexible, and I injured my back a lot less than I used to.
How about a Raw Curls and/or Raw Curls Vault wash day. It's not getting enough notice anymore and it's a superb all organic water soluble brands. I think Ken Nichols is considering working more with influencers. They have a curl club too with half off and free shipping. Right now he's selling a bunch of sample packages for cheap on the Curly Girl Method product swap page.
I really wish MopTop had travel sizes!!!! I’m working through trying all kinds of stylers, and there are some brands I really want to try but they either don’t have travel sizes or they’re out of stock 😢
I say persnickety, but not jibber jabber. I actually like it though - it just... does not come to mind, I guess. Chit chat does though!!! Oh and do not worry, I say some weird ones too 😂😂 Example A would be my family's version of the word exactly: exac-a-lack-a-ly ❤ I also am not satisfied with just saying wow and need to say wowzers or wowzies instead 🤣
Headbanger's Kitchen is a TH-cam channel where you can hear "Jibber Jabber" in every video! 😁 I love this series and I think I want to try this brand. Your refresh really inspired me!

Agreed.
I’m curious of the hold comparison between the gel and the custard? Could be a fun comparison video!
Mop Top was my first line of curly girl friendly products. I love the custard, I might need to revisit.
Glad to hear Mop Top has a styler without glycerine. I have really been wanting to try them, but we almost never have good dew points here.
I have just recently tried Mop Top (I have the curl enhancing gel & leave-in conditioner) & have been really happy with the results. I don't say Jiber Jaber, but I do say persnickity alot. I always chuckle when I hear you say it. 😂
I say persnickety ALL THE TIME 🤣🤣🤣
I’m so happy! I love Mop Top products, and I’ve been wondering about that gel, which I’ve been considered trying. Thank you so much for reviewing these products, and I’ve been loving this series!😁
I would buy mop top shampoo and conditioner just for the fragrance! Such a beautiful scent. I love it.
I think your refresh day was better than Wash day! Looks great!
Awesome refresh! Mop Top didn’t work for me when I started the CGM but now that my hair is healthier … I love it! Glad I gave it a other chance!
I feel ya on the loosening curl pattern overnight, despite using a bonnet (although that does help prevent frizz). I love the Giovanni hard hold gel. I was using another gel but keep going back to this one. 😊
Thank you for your advice and great techniques!!! 😘

Refresh looks great!!
I would love to see a Ouidad wash day, especially using the stronger hold gel (the red label bottle).
Lol I say jibber jabber all the time. You introduced me to moptop and I still love them. Just wish custard didn't have glycerin so I could use year round. ❤
This is exactly what my hair looks like when I refresh! So cute!!!

Ohh interesting! Great info!
What are your thoughts on k18? Do you feel a difference after using it?
I would love to see an Eco Slay One Brand Wash day!!! Specifically the Orange Marmalade Definer and Banana Deep conditioner.
REALLY want to see your thoughts on Eva NYC. They have a curly line but I've seen recommended and currently use their Mane magic 10-in-1 line.
Would you say this line would be considered lightweight? A lot of CG products are just too heavy for my hair. And does it have protein? I'm not sure that my hair likes/needs any. Love your videos!
Can you do a one brand wash day with umberto giannini products?
I use them all the time and they are really good for my wavy hair. 😊
I wonder how that gel would play with VERY fine curls (like cobweb fine!). Everything weighs them down (minus a couple of Ouidad gels), but I’m looking for a gel with some slip. Great vid! Thank you so much
I think it turned out better refreshed
You should do an updated one brand wash day using all prose products!
I have been wanting to try Mop Top. I loved all of your comments on each of these products. For wavy, fine, medium porosity hair which one would be better to try first: their light conditioner or daily conditioner?

Thank you! 😊
Have you done Bumble & Bumble?

so I use Jessicurl products but they are all moisturizing what do you recommend for adding protein into my routine?😊

Should have read, I never straightened my hair even in the 60's lol!
Are u able to do frizz ease products?

I think this is one of the best results. It’s almost as good as the Briogio (did I spell that correctly?) day. Absolutely stupendous Courtney.😀
What scent does the gel have? I haven't bought mop top because of the glycerin. In missouri i have a small window to use products with glycerin because my hair does not hold if the dew point is not in the range.
I think it said citrus medley on the bottle. I personally prefer that scent.
I say jibber jabber! Thank you for this one brand wash day. I've almost bought Mop Top several times and you've just sold me on it!
What clarifying shampoos do you like?
Is it encouraging to say that today's before hair looks better than some of the other before hair? 🤔
In all honestly though it's not about the before hair, it's the after that we are here for. 😉
Oooooo nice refresh too.

I need a tips to scalp care.
I was reading the subtitles instead of listening to you and it said “squish toucan dish” 😂
Pretty was day but the refresh seemed even better !
Love it!

Omgg you should really do a "SOFTEE" 1 brand wash day from the dollar tree for us curlys and wavies who are on a budget 🤔🏳️🌈⁉️
I really wish MopTop had travel sizes!!!! I’m working through trying all kinds of stylers, and there are some brands I really want to try but they either don’t have travel sizes or they’re out of stock 😢
They do have sample sizes!
I bought lil empty travel bottles
Where does one buy mop top?
Would be great to have an over-all ranking of single brand at the end of this series.
Do you mean like rank them in order of my favorites?
Jibber jabber is something I also use. It's fun🤣
I don't say jibber jabber that much. But I say humdinger at work so much, I got my coworkers and supervisor saying it too. 😅
What gels do you think have a grit level 0? 😄
Lus sea moss gel had no grit 🤗
Did you refer to Mop Top as a drugstore brand?
Yeah, I kind of miss spoke! You can get it at Whole Foods. But that’s not really a drugstore.
What are you clarifying with lately?
What drug store has mop top. I have never seen it in a store.
Whole Foods used to have it.
I have seen Mop Top at Ulta.
So many women these days are going shorter & shorter
Looks great & far more convenient/practical
Headbanger's Kitchen is a TH-cam channel where you can hear "Jibber Jabber" in every video! 😁
