neither Key/VisualArts nor KyoAni has made anything of this caliber since. It is currently 2022 and Air still holds such a place in my heart, and these scenes still give my goosebumps and tears.
I understand what's going on in the video. Through it, it's showing the times Yukito spent with all the characters, and then nearer the end it shows all the character's ends. The anime made me cry =(
What made me speechless when I first saw this anime was that I remembered that my dad's friend once told me that if I became friends with the birds, I would eventually have wings and fly away with them.
@CaptainCretaceous91 The curse was placed on Kanna by the monks that killed her. She was to suffer in limbo for eternity thinking that the people she loved most are dead because of her. But over time it weakened and she was reincarnated, but the curse was still in effect so if she came to care for anyone, she would suffer and die, and if she fell in love with anyone, the person she loved would suffer and die. The curse basically forces her to choose between death and isolation.
Basically the curse went on 1000 summers. Meaning 1000 years. I'm sure you got that part. That is why there was a view of the origins. Due to her seeing her mother and the unfortunate death too and seeing how everyone was going to die, she felt that she could head to the heavens and be at peace. But those fiends prevented thus how she never got to the upper heavens and fell is why she is sad. I'm sure there is another reason behind it, but its the clearest way to explain it.
@wiebenjijzeg omg i love the movie as well it was fantastic too, i just wish it wasn't a complete recap of the show i wish they had misuzu go through a new adventure with yukito

Not sure if everyone agrees with me but doesn't this anime clearly express itself through this song? Even without paying attention to the lyrics doesn't this show the anime's emotions? :3 Also anyone agree that the ending could have been SLIGHTLY just slightly better? I didn't like what happens to the two protagonists that clearly showed some romantic interests. I do not say names cause i don't want to spoil it at best.
Btw @kogamimiko where did you get the video clip? I don't remember watching most of the parts in AIR tv, some of them are only known in the visual novel, so where did you get this video clip?
So are Kanon and the Clannads. The only things that were in this anime that made me cry though was Misuzu's death and Kana's death or capture or whatever you want to call it.
This is spoilerific so SPOILERS don't read if you haven't watched. A new area was coming in and a powerful warlord (forget who) felt threatened by the power of the winged beings. They were worshipped so they could turn the people against the warlord if they wanted. So the warlord imprisoned them. Kanna escaped just to see her mother, but the warlord freaked and ordered her stopped dead or alive so he could keep his power. So when they found Kanna, they cursed her and killed her =C
Dont bash me for hating but i didnt get this anime at all... people died by randomly disappearing. i like the rest of Juns work like angel beats and clannad but this anime just didnt amount to the rest of juns work. Air summer special however was a great series. i wish it lasted for longer then 4 episodes for i really enjoyed that part of Air.... however that was the only part i enjoyed. there should have been a bit more clarification
