    Hey GG,
Firstly, don’t ever apologise for being able to produce the standard of photography/photography manipulation that you deliver week on week.
Having the vision and ability to do what “YOU” do and are extremely successful at is an Art.
You won’t ever please everyone, that doesn’t me you should feel you have to justify your work.
If others choose to leave your TH-cam, then it’s down to personal preference not because of you or your ability.
Your knowledge, experience, Photoshop vision and skills is something to be proud off.
Your work is honest and true to the style you have adapted and deliver on a continuous basis.
Keep doing what “YOU” do best and that is sharing work of a very very high standard.
    Richie

What's the problem as long as you are honest about the art. People are aware it is a composite. It is your art. A1 images & I admire your skills, which are beyond me. Well done that man. I think all the breakwater lighthouses suffer from the same problems. The Brixham Breakwater Lighthouse is better photographed from Fishcombe.

indeed and if I may be controversial, an image you took in camera and manipulated has more validity than typing four words in a free internet AI art creator and claiming you created it when the AI program did and claiming credit for it in forums.

Hi Gary, I live in South Shields and the sea/river never washes over the groyne - maybe in a year or two 😬
There are nice sun-rise compositions from the dunes adjacent to where you shot, and also from the quayside adjacent to the derelict wooden jetty you mentioned.
Great vid, keep up the great work.

I have just recently had a go at my first ever fine art shot of a ship grounded on a beach in Orkney after following your vlogs for a couple of years. Fine art is all about manipulation in my opinion. In my shot I smoothed out the water using a filter and long exposure, that in itself is not a true reflection of what i was looking at, so it is manipulated. Fine art is all about creativity and as far as I’m concerned a licence to do what you like 🤔 replacing sky, removing distractions, adding things in or moving items. How far you go with it is up to the “artist” I love your fine art work. The sunrise shots were a true reflection of what you were seeing and were stunning Gary 👌

Love this video Gary! What a joy to watch you working a scene with your enthusiasm and being able to see how you process what lies before you. I see nothing wrong with manipulating a shot at all as long as you aren't presenting it as "fact". Painters have always painted what they saw in their "mind's eye" and we praise them for it. I love what you did... amazing! Another great video! Thank you!

For me Gary the second sunrise shot is the winner, but on the note of sky replacement, I have been replacing the sky in some of my images lately, mainly because I did an all day epic hike (very strenuous ) and on that day I had blue sky with lots of haze, so I experimented and was quite surprised. I am sure there are lots of images out there with sky replacements, and I am sure if a client asked a pro for an image with a certain sky they would create that image. At the end of the day it is all subjective and there is nothing wrong with some fum or experimentation. Awesome content as always.

I really liked the sunrise images, very nice. I also liked the music you choose with the Gulls in it. I often say a picture is worth a 1000 words, but it does not capture the experience of taking the photo. It does not convey the smells and sounds, the heat or cold, the feel of the wind, etc. But the birds in the music truly added to the images.

Awhile back I was watching a session and he just came out and said that he wasn't a photographer showing you a place. That he was an artist, and he is showing how he creates his art piece. Really thought provoking video. For me, the first sunrise image works best. The composite would work better for me if the two jetties were softened in some way, perhaps with some negative dehaze or by reducing the opacity of that layer. This might help to create a sense of distance and separation and make them more like supporting subjects in the composition. A great video, Gary.

Hi again Gary lovely video of a beautiful little lighthouse.. I understand some people just feel composites are cheating.. I use to do abstract painting before I took up dslr photography.. And my paintings were definitely not realistic but it would have a sunset theme.. Photography is art as well as one must find a composition that will look great and will be sellerable or stand the test of time.. I don't have a pc or laptop so I've been editing on snapseed and have really found it is the best editing app for me. It is free to use I guess that's why it's so popular.. But it does really give professional results.. And I as well do composites at times and went through a stage where I thought of composites and my ideas just worked out so well.. And yes I do post most of my images to Facebook and Instagram.. And yes I do tell my followers it is a composite.. One must definitely tell them that.. As some of them could be real if taken in the right situation.. Some not lol as a few of them I added in up to 5 images to make up one composite..

Fun fact: classical painters created "composites".
At Bornholm Art Museum, they have paintings from the local painter Kristian Zahrtmann. You can see that he has used the same woman in the same dress in the same pose on multiple paintings (she was his cousin to my knowledge). I am actually a little annoyed that I didn't take a picture documenting this fact.
I create art. How it looks when it hangs on the wall is all that matters. The camera in my bag is just one of the tools I use to create art.

You are spending a lot of time in my neck of the woods. Not surprised, it's a great area. Don't forget to apply for a "Geordie passport". Blyth one week and Tyne the next. The tides never cover the feet of that groyne. Strong North Easterly wind may push waves over it, but that won't help the "Fine Art" image. Enjoying the videos, keep it up.

Oh and lets face it floating piers and absent horizons on a clear day don’t actually exist, so the image is clearly a manipulation of the truth. It works because it’s art. You need not apologise or hide it away. I really like that one too.

No problem with me Gary, I would love to have the skill, knowledge & the capabilities to create art like that. At the end of the day photography is a form of art............

I am on the "normal" side but I don't have a problem with composite images providing it is disclosed as such and it isn't passed off as otherwise. Loved the sunrise images.

I don't think you need to apologise for your constructed image at all. You are, in fact, a photographic artist, and that is why your images stand out from the crowd. It is fascinating to hear how you construct your images and the level of detail you achieve in your research. Great work.

Hi Gary, I love your videos and often use your processes to improve mine. However I watched your editing time lapse and thought you need to save yourself some time and energy and perhaps try the ON1 Photo Raw software. I have been using it for a few years and it has very accurate and quick masking features that I am sure that you would appreciate. I don't work for them nor am I affiliated with them in any way, just giving back some of my experience to help you, as you have helped me in my photographic journey. Personally I loved the original images of the Lighthouse but your Fine art images are definitely your style. Keep them coming! Cheers from Australia.

Photography is art, and I don't see anything wrong with manipulating it to make a picture. If you think about it, all t he best painters in the world put in their own skies, because they couldn't have painted quickly enough tp capture it as it was. I would also think that if a tree or a building was in the wrong spot in the picture, it would have either been removed or moved to a better spot. love your videos Gary.

It is impossible to me to compare both works, they are different subjects, neither better nor worse. The minimalist image of bn for me is like a photo of a sculpture, lines, volumes, perspectives... But the color photos, especially the second with the sun peeking out, they give me other sensations, calm , tranquility and the hope of a happy and positive day.

Personally if anyone left your channel Gary, I would blame Mali 😂😂. All joking aside, what is the problem in exercising your creative abilities after all it is your channel. I for one, enjoyed this and the sunrise images were smashing as well

Thank you so much for all the efforts creating these fine art videos, Gary. It really has inspired me to a few ideas back home. I remember you have a video about how to loose the horizon in post processing, using Photoshop, but can't seem to find it. Any tips there? 🙂

So long as the photographer acknowledges when they put out a composite I have no problem with it although I don't generally favour composites myself. I'm pretty sure painters in the past lifted bits of one scene to put in another painting. Agree that's a very attractive Lighthouse Gary - but in g location for us Togs!

In the Black & White, I love how you can't tell where the sea and the sky start and end.
The two background images look as though they are suspended in the sky. They are too prominent. They look "Pasted on". If they were surrounded by fog, they would probably look much better.
As far as the subject at hand; Replacing the sky??? I won't do that. I'm old-school film shooter from the 60's and 70's. I consider that cheating.
    Great work, Gary.
