All of the EO games make you fight another supporting character sometime, it seems. First Ren & Tlachtga, then Artelinde & Wilhelm, then pretty much everybody in EOIII (depending on the ending), and then Kibagami, Logre, and Baldur. I wonder who it'll be in EOV. EDIT: Oh, and the Untolds made you fight M.I.K.E. and Bertrand.
Well, I'm trying to avoid any and all spoilers when it comes to EOV, so no more info, please. And yeah, Demi-Fafnir was cool. A bit annoying with just four party members though. In any case, if they can get a character fight as awesome as Baldur, it'll be great. That was one of my favourite fights in the series.
This fight was a HUGE pain for me... Finally managed to pull through, though. Ice wall really is a massive help here. I only had it at level 3, but it made all the difference, honestly.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who found this fight incredibly difficult. Ren's party-wide Frigid Slash and insta-kill Beheading Slash made me use up over half of my stock of Nectar II. And thanks to Tlachtga's status afflictors and constant bindings I was too busy healing the statuses and binds she inflicted to even counter Ren's powerful strikes (Especially when my Medic's head got bound), and her Revenge Curse was so unfair given how much HP she still had when it reached insta-kill levels of power. Seriously, I actually thought the fight against the Etreant was a cakewalk compared to these two.
If you played carefully you can predict when Ren is going to use Frigid Slash, and use Ice Wall to negate it. Beheaded was annoying too but that not the worst I seen. Revenge Curse was so OP it kept killing everyone instantly. I kept throwing nectars to revive people and even my party line switched at one point. I still manage to win with everyone alive but at near death HP. I had 3 Nectar ll and 3 Regular Nectars and they were all gone when I finish the battle.
Omg, this is my favorite remake from the EOU OST. Ren and Tlachtga was my favorite boss battle and now I will have to keep battling them to hear the equally amazing song. :3
To be fair, it also falls in line with the story. At this point, Etria is on the verge of being completely destroyed thanks to M.I.K.E. and Gungnir, so you really don't have the time to waste fighting these two
David Bencebi I recently beat the game, so I just unlocked it. It could still use an extended version on TH-cam though. This song is even better than Furnace of War.
It annoys me that people say this fight is easy because they got lucky with binds. bosses are very resistant to binds, not immune, but I'll be damned if I ever got it off in this fight for more than 3 turns. It also would help to know if you're under or over levelled and what difficulty you're on. I was on normal, averaging about 51-53 when I fought them and only myself simon and raquna were alive in the end and just barely. took me 3 tries to finally beat them too because of the beheading cut and the cranial curse just seeking out simon every time without fail. Hell, one of those attempts beheading cut literally 1-shotted my entire team, the death effect procced every single time.
Fight wasn't hard, just super annoying. I took down Ren fairly easily at level 48. Should've been easy after that right? Wrong...the fight went on for another 25+ turns because of Tlachtga's stall tactics... Had to burn through all my amiritas since I was using up all my TP like no tomorrow.
the battle was quiet easy the second time I had many samoprimes and medicsIII also a lot of bravents little nector I first used my sheilder he would always do defense and attack in a pattern then i'd switch the pattern up my ronin would frequiently use lightning stab at ren so it hit Tlachtga too but I mostly went after tlachtga to get rid of her but not like full force cuz shes very simple when my teams hp was low i'd give it a boast using delayed heal with my medic my hexer would use spells to bring their attack down low often as well especially for ren ren would at some point bring his hp back largly that's why you'd like to attack with full force using a ronin you'd also need a good amount of armitas 5 or more to recover tp when its enar the end and ur characters have boost on click it then go to skills use their strongest attack on ren and finish him off I simply did this while all my characters levels were only at 53:)
*Sips Mtn. Dew* Touche! Why didn't I think of that? But then again, I hadn't witnessed that fight when I posted that. And the midboss theme playing during the Issachar fight bothered the crap out of me.
Wow, seeing how many people are talking about the insta-kills and taking more than once on this fight, I got pretty lucky. I beat it on my first try only using 1 or 2 amritas on Simon to be able to keep reviving and salving. Otherwise, the fight went pretty smoothly for me with Elderevenge on, restoring a lot of Arthur's TP when attacking Ren. Having a healing Grimoire on Arthur helped too, so he could revive Simon if he happened to die.
Now, THIS is what should have accompanied the fight against Issachar in Shin Megami Tensei IV. It sounds like you're engaging in a battle to the death with an old friend- or, in this case, a pair of old buddies. You do not want to do it, but you MUST.
I did the opposite, I wanted to stop using Ice Wall every two-three turns x) I probably must suck, because this fight took me a solid 3-4 tries, with the winning attempt taking around 60 turns
Well, the things that tips it in favor of Issachar for me is that you actually KILL Issachar at the end of that battle, whereas Ren and Tlachtga are spared. Plus, I just don't really care for SMT4's miniboss theme.
It would work if that battle was harder though... this song has the feeling of a desperate struggle, and Issachar wasn't the most dangerous opponent... idk, I think for me the SMTIV Midboss battle theme will always be associated with that battle, especially the synth parts since they coincided with his last words in my playthrough. Er I mean uh - Yeah, Etrian Odyssey Untold! How 'bout dem FOEs...? (As I've said before elsewhere, this is my fav remixed song out of the bunch)
+Dollarluigi Ever Battled them in the first Game? The Untold versions got a Real storyline, and where made much more easier though the fact that u can see the strengh of FOE's. Also, the dmg of most things got reduced also their defensives - these 2 aint a exception. If
I never played the original version of the game, but my earlier comment was made because I saw lot of comments from people saying that they struggled with that battle.
Back when I played this game on the DS, It caught me by surprise that I had to fight actual HUMAN BEINGS.
I think it's great how the series reserves fighting humans for "shit getting real" moments only.
***** Makes me remember of Kujura. He looks scary in battle.

Yeah, Bertrand looked freaking cool as Demi-Fafnir. About EOV, I bet they will be that Purple haired Reaper and that little Necromancer, who knows.
Well, I'm trying to avoid any and all spoilers when it comes to EOV, so no more info, please. And yeah, Demi-Fafnir was cool. A bit annoying with just four party members though.

me: Yes i'm finally winning!
Ren: It would be a shame if....I attacked each character a dozen times at once....
me: no.....
"we held no grudge against you.
but neither can we allow you to pass."
Demonlord Lorence "I'll do everything I can to stop you...is what Ren wants"
Simon: "To think that it would come to this..."
Arthur: "Dammit, you BLOCKHEADS!"
Ren: "We bear no grudge against you, but neither can we allow you to pass."
Tlachtga: "I'll do everything I can to stop you. It's what Ren wants..."
After the fight when they game called them monsters.. That was it for me...
I'm glad this makes a return in Nexus. It only lasts for one fight, but *man* is it a fight.
That fight is a godamn Olympian fight.
Atlus: I see you have made friends with characters.......Not in my game bitch!. Sudden boss battle against ally.
lix Axil Either that, or unexpected death.
U mean Shin Megami Tensei?
Oh, speaking of:
Unexpected death that was the result of the suicide of a former ally that had turned into a boss fight.
But this isn't about the fun times in Armoroad. No that's something else entirely, isn't it?
Man this plot twist, I never played the original so I never saw this coming.
“Hehehe...Bwehahaha!”
“Open the door only if you have the will to abandon all hope, to cast aside your very life!”
the pure unbridled insanity this fight holds to even vets like me like wtf party ice nuke are you fing kidding me
WHAT A TWIST!
Keep coming back to this soundtrack...
This was my first foray into the Etrian Odyssey games. And it was worth every hour I spent battling or drawing the maps.
This fight was a HUGE pain for me... Finally managed to pull through, though.
Ice wall really is a massive help here. I only had it at level 3, but it made all the difference, honestly.
Epic suspense is epic.
レンたちと戦ったあと二人ともどっか行っちゃったけどどうなったんだろ。
まさか自決………?
悲しいなぁ…………

AeroShot007 Revenge curse never did that much damage to my party when i fought them, Is it supposed to do a lot of damage?
It did around 600 Damage, Raquna had the highest HP with around 490.
keyblade336
That's with the Gingerlife HP boost too.
keyblade336
Sorry for so many replies but If it matters I was also playing on Expert too.
Omg, this is my favorite remake from the EOU OST. Ren and Tlachtga was my favorite boss battle and now I will have to keep battling them to hear the equally amazing song. :3
This is the best battle theme amongst reworked ones. I love how its atmosphere is completely different with the original one.
To be fair, it also falls in line with the story. At this point, Etria is on the verge of being completely destroyed thanks to M.I.K.E. and Gungnir, so you really don't have the time to waste fighting these two
Awesome theme! EO games never fail to have crazy good battle themes.
Honestly I'd say I'd be more appropriate for the Isabeau fight in the non-Neutral paths.
This song needs an extended version. One of the most intense tracks in the game is only two minutes long? =_=
Then listen to it from the game itself, it's an endless loop.
David Bencebi I recently beat the game, so I just unlocked it. It could still use an extended version on TH-cam though. This song is even better than Furnace of War.
Yeah this song is amazing.
Hey Chip. Your wish is granted. Check my channel. :3
From Your Closet Reviews ayyyye
世界樹の迷宮Xに使われたね(どこでとは言わない)
おめでとう!!w
Someone please extend this.
yes, they did, the original name is "rising again" :)
Those two just are deadly as hell but then again I use a ronin and hexer in my party ^^ but I agree that ice attack is nasty

Can definitely sympathize, as I got lucky. My team was about 54-ish but managed with all party members alive at the end.

I beat them at level 48/49. It was still hard but damn I lucked out with the head binds
+chaincat33 I actually beat Wyvern at your level on normal mode... I was so shocked I actually managed to do that.
the battle was quiet easy the second time I had many samoprimes and medicsIII also a lot of bravents little nector I first used my sheilder he would always do defense and attack in a pattern then i'd switch the pattern up my ronin would frequiently use lightning stab at ren so it hit Tlachtga too but I mostly went after tlachtga to get rid of her but not like full force cuz shes very simple when my teams hp was low i'd give it a boast using delayed heal with my medic my hexer would use spells to bring their attack down low often as well especially for ren ren would at some point bring his hp back largly that's why you'd like to attack with full force using a ronin you'd also need a good amount of armitas 5 or more to recover tp when its enar the end and ur characters have boost on click it then go to skills use their strongest attack on ren and finish him off I simply did this while all my characters levels were only at 53:)
Hey
What if I told yall
This is in Nexus.
And not with Ren and Tlachtga.
Nono.
Someone MUCH more painful.
Oh fuck, that afterimage still gave me PTSD
*Sips Mtn. Dew*
Touche! Why didn't I think of that? But then again, I hadn't witnessed that fight when I posted that. And the midboss theme playing during the Issachar fight bothered the crap out of me.
sounds like Roots to Branches by Jethro Tull

Same here. I had to use 2 Nectar's though. Simon was my only source of revive at all as I got rid of that one skill on Raquna

Kill Tlachtga first. During the entire battle, she never stops binding your ass
couldn't you just....give us the key card?
The epic music started playing so there had to be an epic fight. Those are the rules
@@haruokumura4271 true words 😔☝️
based Banim
also, did they change the name of the song?
First try on this fight
Kill tlachtga first, then ren. Epic battle but in the end ez as hell, played both version btw, untold on expert.
I did the opposite, I wanted to stop using Ice Wall every two-three turns x)

im sorry but i only know this because of the miitopia mod, song slaps tho
Why this music is similar to The End of The World Music?
because they are both bad ass themes
It would work if that battle was harder though... this song has the feeling of a desperate struggle, and Issachar wasn't the most dangerous opponent... idk, I think for me the SMTIV Midboss battle theme will always be associated with that battle, especially the synth parts since they coincided with his last words in my playthrough.
Er I mean uh - Yeah, Etrian Odyssey Untold! How 'bout dem FOEs...?

I'll be honest. For me this one of the easiest fights in the game.

+Dollarluigi Did you play on Expert? Then again binding Ren's arms or legs: victory.
Same, I bound ren’s and she was out of the fight. Analysis + fire made it really easy. The hexed did nothing
