I am harvesting Fava/Broad beans now in California. Your video for freezing was very helpful. I always have a lot of zucchini. I shred it and freeze it in bags for making zucchini bread or adding to spaghetti sauce. 😊
Hi Cherie, I'm so pleased this has been of value to you! Thank you for the tip for freezing Zucchini, something I may well try this year! Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱
Lovely video Annie ,we have just harvested our over wintered broad beans from our allotment we seem to have a good crop each year on our allotment which is on a south facing slope in north east Wales. Thanks again for sharing.John and Pam "Cuckoopatch".
Another great video Annie. I love broad beans but I never knew about them being toxic if eaten raw. We learn something new all the time. I only have space to grow a few as well. This year I am trying the crimson flowered variety which have looked absolutely beautiful but I have yet to taste them. x
Hi Annie! Great video! I wanted to know how to preserve broad bean because I have not grown them before. Great timing! I wanted to say that I freeze courgettes. I shred them in the biggest size of the shredder but use them from frozen for soups. I defrost them when I use them for zucchini breads. I have tried chopping them, but it’s not the same thing. Give it a try this summer. Cheers!
I must admit, I have never made zucchini breads, but I have made cakes with courgettes. But always using freshly grated not frozen. Perhaps I will try it just as you suggest! 😊🥒
OOOOOH lucky lady & reward for all your hard work = there is nothing like new potatoes, broad beans & parsley sauce; before I was a vegetarian I would have added ham/gammon to that ! I like them raw too. If they get too big there is always soup to make !!!
Hi Anne the Broad beans look great but not for us we just don't like the taste I've not done much this year with being ill and in hospital only growing Cucumber in the greenhouse They are a lovely smooth Cucumber no spiky bits and the flavour to me it's the best there is it's a F1 but worth it i will show you a picture of them they already have cucumber on them Mr Paddy seems he is enjoying his sleep Hope you are enjoying your retirement now xx🍰☕
Hello my friend! I think Paddy has spent most of his life asleep...well, when he's not eating!!!! Lol. I know broad beans are not for everyone for me it's cabbage. Never grow it as I remember it with school dinners. Put me off for life!!!! I'm growing cucumbers this year too and have a few flowers so far, so fingers crossed. I hope you are now going from strength to strength and able to enjoy your garden! ❤🪴⚘🌷🌼🌻
