Man 1 minute into this video that i happened to stumble across and inhear that 6 liter whistling away !!!! Love it !!! I have had 5 and haf great luck with all of them .... just had to do my first hpop at 250k so i cant compalin stock head gaskets and egr and everything
The one you stabbed into the bale might do better if it's done at a bit of a downward angle (the end towards you). That way it will be harder for the flapping tarp in the winds to pull the stake out of the bale.
@@denisewilson8367 agreed, after we drove some in we realized they were horizontal and would benefit from a steeper angle. At least we caught ourselves before having to redo the whole stack:)
Learn something new everyday. I've never heard of peanut hay. After you slowly introduce this to the cattle, I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts. Are your cattle gaining weigh, holding their weight, or losing their weight? Do they seem to like it or love it or despise it? And the costs per bale and size of bale and weight of your bales? This way I can do some calculations and figure out if it is a good deal or not so good. Could you please include transport fee per mile also? Thank you in advance of anything you are willing to share with us.
Bales are 4x5 and around a 1000#. $60 a bale plus $13 for transport. We haven’t fed the cattle yet, the horses yes, and they sure love it. Small amount though. It’s a legume like alfalfa and feeds similarly. Not the same as perennial peanut hay. I misspoke in the video. This is the byproduct of harvested peanuts. I’m looking forward to see the animal condition come March.
Around here, everyone feeds pnut hay. I stack mine on light poles as well. I lay string down under the bales then use that string to tye the tarps. That way the weight of the bales hold down the tarps. Just be careful over feeding pnut hay, we have had multiple animal deaths believed to be associated with over feeding pnut hay. But overall it is a highly sought after cheap feed source. And the cows LOVE it.
@@lakesidefarm3736 it kept great condition on the cattle and had no ill effects that I observed. Just to clarify this is peanut vine hay (byproduct) not perennial peanut hay. There seems to be confusion about the matter. To my knowledge peanut vine gets treated with fungicides and has quite a bit of sand in it. I’ll say this, it’s crack for cows. They love the stuff

What does the peanut hay weigh and $$.. I also cover my hay with the billboard tarps. I use old weights to hold them down.. I use wheat bales. I raise sheep and goats. Never thought about telephone poles... have you ever had issues with the treatment with the hay? Shalom
4x5 peanut hay is around 1000# average. I gave 60 a bale plus 13 per for shipping. Only $10 more per bale than mixed grass, but also weighs 300# more. The horses and cattle love it. So far I really like the billboard tarps. I put some bales up on the poles last year and it worked really well. I didn’t cover them and they had very little mold if any. Mind you these poles are extremely old and have very little creosote on them still. Not sure how good of an idea that would be with new ones. I also have a bunch of cedar logs I could put some on. @@marty5199 I bought it from Timmons Transit in Jonesboro AR. Ask for Wayne. They have a sizable haying operation (thousands of bales) along side their large trucking company.
I love them tarps. But first hand experience I can tell you the wind will play hell with them if there not weighted down. I've got some that I have had 5 years as long as you can keep them from getting beaten up. You said college athlete to your daughter. If you don't mind my asking was that humor or what sport is she in? Love the videos

Peanut hay is great! My uncle would bale what was left (plant tops) after harvesting the peanuts. Excellent feed stuff

I have been skeptical on this but this video seals it, l going to feed my goats peanut hay. Please do a follow up video on how it performed.

Wheat bales is straw. It's used as a bedding, not a product for feed.@Marty5199.
